Have you ever wondered why it seems like all of your library holds come in…
Read With Us: The Summer 2026 Announcement

It’s the blog post that only comes four times a year, the one where Bonny, Kym, and I announce the next selection for the Read With Us book club. This summer we are reading . . .
John of John by Douglas Stuart
I’m guessing this is not a surprise to anyone with any knowledge of this book group’s history. Because, truly, it was our discussion of Shuggie Bain way back in June of 2021 that turned us from a bunch of people who knit and read the same book into a bonded book club.

And, if we didn’t already recognize Douglas Stuart is the patron saint of the Read With Us group, now he’s gone and included weaving, and even a bit of spinning and knitting, in his latest book. In other words, we had to choose this one.
Beyond all of that, it’s just a really beautiful book about family secrets and legacies, personal identity, tradition and change and so much more. It was a 5 star read for me and I hope it will be for you, too.
Our discussion will be on Tuesday, September 15th at 7pm EST. I hope you will join us.

I am really so excited to unpack this gorgeous book! (and I would add in the Outer Hebrides to that list!)
Yesterday I requested the book from my library…I’m number 151 in the queue – hahaha (but yesterday afternoon I was number 168, so at least the wait is moving.
I read it as an ARC so it was a while ago, but re-listening will be a real pleasure!
