Unraveled, August 12th, 2026

Let’s catch up with some knitting and reading with Kat and the rest of our blogging community.

I finished Sock Number One of the Halloween Feather & Fan Series. Moving on with Sock Number Two and hoping to get a lot done while camping next week. Of course, reading often triumphs over knitting so we shall see.

Since my last Unraveled post I finished 3 books: The Amateur (5 stars, no notes, read this) as well as Murder at the Toy Soldier (the series has gotten stale) and Switzy (4 stars, it comes out on September 8th) and I am now reading The Pirate Queen which also comes out on September 8th. It’s good but it’s long and I’m getting (maybe) a little impatient with it.

What are you knitting and reading these days?

  1. Hooray for a lovely finished sock! The second one will get done when it gets done — I have a feeling your feet won’t be needing wool socks for a while yet. Saw your IG/TT post with Chris Bohjalian — so cool!

  2. Lovely sock and I saw that you did more than read The Amateur. I’m betting that Chris Bohjalian is as nice as he seems!

  3. Lovely sock, but I can’t even think about wool. It is so DANG HOT! I saw your IG, and I swooned. I bet it was a fan girl moment! Congratulations on that once in a lifetime surprise moment! I hope it is cooler up there than it is here so that you have a wonderful time camping.

  4. Beautiful sock! Can you knit and read? Reading is what makes me sit still long enough to get my knitting done. I like simple knitting that I can multi-task with.

Did you like Switzy? I’ve put both that and The Pirate Queen on my Libby holds. Thanks for the mentions.

  5. What a nice sock. It looks very fall-ish. I wondered if The Pirate Queen would be as engaging as The Frozen River.

  6. Fun sock! I’m reading Switzy right now. (Will be looking for something a bit . . . lighter (ahem) . . . for next. 😉
