Unraveled, September 23rd, 2026
Joining with Kat and friends today to talk knitting and books.
I started a sock yesterday. I don’t know what the yarn is, I found it all ready to go in a bin in my studio. And, since I was short on time and had a meeting to attend directly after work, I grabbed it and cast on. I only realized this morning that the yarn is Cider Moon Glacier in the color Stir Fry. It’s a DK, which is not what I typically use for socks. We’ll see if I continue or it I decide to turn this into something else.
(Side note, I started the Purl Soho Saltwater Bandana on Kym’s recommendation but left the project at the camper. Whomp whomp.)
As for reading, I finished Partita by Barbara Kingsolver and I’ll just say this for now: 5 stars. No notes. I started Every Story is a Love Story by Imbolo Mbue and it’s quite good but my reading time has been limited this week so I haven’t gotten very far.

I was struggling to find a book that really clicked but Data Empire is ticking lots of boxes and I am really enjoying it! I love the colors of that yarn… whatever it wants to be!
That is pretty yarn! When we were going back and forth from MD to NJ, I always had to make sure I had my knitting and started keeping dishcloth cotton in both places just in case I forgot. I will look forward to seeing what color you chose for your Saltwater Bandana. I was surprised to get Partita on Edelweiss and now I’m resenting everything that interrupts my reading. It’s so good!
That’s a great fall yarn! I have yet to knit DK-weight socks, but I’ve heard they are really squishy and delightful, so I do want to try it soon (probably holding fingering double). I can’t wait to read the new Barbara Kingsolver!
