Charity Hats X 3

I responded to Jean’s call for hats by knitting 3 hats. This was a great way to try out some patterns I’ve been considering for Dale. The good news is that he loves all three. Or wait – is that the bad news?

Here’s the 3AM Cable Hat

And Norma’s Bulky 2X2 Ribbed Hat

And the Seaman’s Cap

I knit them all with some Brown Sheep Lamb’s Pride I had in my stash. They took very little time and I think they turned out pretty well. They will be warm and that’s what really counts.

In conclusion – - –
Money spent? zero dollars
Time spent? a few hours
Great feeling achieved knowing I’m helping someone else? priceless

I just finished the Seaman’s Cap for one of my sons. I liked it a lot and definitely will be making it again. I really like the 3AM Cable Hat you made too!

They look great and the recipients will be really glad they have hats! I love using up my stash like this, too.

The hats look great. I am particularly drawn to the coziness of the Seaman’s cap. :)

Nice collection of hats! I have had the 3AM Cable Hat in my cue as well as the Seaman’s hat for a while.

I just want to the BAAArgain Room at CT Yarn & Wool – my LYS and picked out some great yarn to make Hubby a hat – Watchman’s Cap is the pattern but I like all three of yours as well. I’m secret knitting mine during lunch at work so he’ll be suprised on Christmas morn. Will kit some of these for charity after the holidays.

I have a Seamans’ Cap on the pointy sticks right now for my hubster. What a great simple pattern. Did the 3a.m. hat come into existence because you took a nap the other day and ended up staying up through the nigh as a consequence? :-)

They are all beautiful but the cable hat is my favorite. Very nicely done!

All three are winners! Tell him to pick just one, and you will match yarn and color to husband.

Now surprise Dale with one knit for him for Christmas.

They look great! I have a hat I need to send her – it’s before I knew what I was doing (not that I do now) and all the knit stitches are twisted. But it’s warm!

    Very festive pictures!

  23. Jessica Said,

They are all lovely and will keep someone very warm. I need to do some charity knitting myself. I suppose the Xmas gifts don’t count. ;)

Hmmm… sounds like Dale might need to start picking up the needles himself! ;)

Another reason why stash is a good thing :) I really love that 3am cable hat – going to have to check that one out! but they are all lovely.

I like the first one…and the third one made me giggle. But then, I live with a twelve-year old trapped in a 38 year old body. ;o)

  29. Jean Said,

Love them all! Thanks, Carole! I’ve had a ton of packages come in over the past two days but it’s been nuts here and I haven’t been able to open them yet. At this rate I’ll be making another trip to Dobbs Ferry before the end of the week! Fine with me!!

  30. Carol Said,

Well done. I’ve been meaning to cast on one of these for Jean. I’m going to search for suitable yarn tonight.

    Nice hats!

Knitting hats for Dale is faster than socks. I vote he gets more hats and fewer socks. ;^)

  32. Hillary Said,

They all look great. That’s very generous and clever of you to combine charity knitting with research.

  33. Norma Said,

Wonderful X 3. And Lamb’s Pride is a big thumbs up! So warm and perfect for the needy.

What a great collection of hats! And the snow is uber-cool too!

  35. Jean Said,

All three hats look great, whoever receives any of them will be very happy and it sounds like you are feeling better. I like the snowflakes that are cascading down the screen across the beautiful red design. Reading your blog is a treat I look forward too after a long drive in Los Angeles traffic.
