Ten On Tuesday

It’s been a long winter here in New England and, while I’m always happy to see spring arrive, this year I am extra happy. And that leads me to this week’s Ten on Tuesday topic, 10 Reasons To Be Glad It’s Spring.

  1. Opening the windows. It’s so good to air out the house and bring in the spring breezes!
  2. Spring bulbs. The crocus are up and the daffodils are coming. I’m so happy that the landscape is sporting colors other than white, gray and brown.
  3. College basketball.  My beloved Tennessee Lady Vols are doing well and I hope they go all the way to the Final Four this year.
  4. Spinning on the deck. I haven’t yet but I’m sure it will happen soon.
  5. Spring peepers. I haven’t heard them yet but it’s only a matter of time.
  6. Red winged blackbirds. I know they must be here but I’ve yet to see one. I think I heard one the other day, though.
  7. Longer days. I know some people hate daylight savings time and I’m not a big fan of losing an hour to kick start the event – but – I do love that it’s light out at 7pm now.
  8. Pussy willows. I’m seeing the fuzzy little buds everywhere these days and it makes me glad.
  9. Asparagus and artichokes. They are in season which means they will be reasonably priced at the grocery store. Hooray!
  10. Walking in the woods. Sure, it’s muddy but a walk in the woods is the best way to enjoy spring!

Bring on spring!

  1. Ahh, spring! We were finally able to take our first trail walk this weekend and it was glorious! Haven’t tried spinning on the deck, but don’t see why that can’t happen. I’m ignoring the forecast for tomorrow… they are mentioning the S word!

  2. After seeing your list, I feel like I should add one of my own: the opportunity to see Pat Summit cry when UCONN crushes them in the tournament 😉

  3. I was able to spin on the deck last Thursday with the warm weather. I am waiting for the first spring peepers- a true harbinger of spring.

  4. I purchased some asparagus yesterday for tonight’s dinner! And the breeze flowing through the open windows is lovely.

  5. It is not spring here and I have not been able to do anything on your list to celebrate spring. Where’s the sun!?! I’m ready!

  6. We’re still in clouds and rain, but we’re heading to Oregon for spring break, so I hope to find more signs there – Wait! I’m going to Oregon to look for sun? Hmmm, better rethink this…

  7. Great list! I miss pussy willows. Haven’t thought of them in some time. You will post pictures at a later date for those of us who grew up with them but no longer live where they grow, right? 😉 And the artichokes and asparagus – my mouth is watering!

  8. I love this Tuesday topic! I’m not a big fan of changing the time around with the seasons, but it is very nice to have longer light in the evenings.

  9. Such a collection of good things on your list and I really love that picture. There’s something very cool about the colors.
