Eye Candy Friday

What can I say? Kym made me do it. And crayons are beautiful, particularly when they are new.

Tomorrow I am participating in my first 5K and I can’t quite believe it. I wasn’t going to even tell you all about it, I was just going to come back all bad-ass on Monday and talk about it. But then I decided I need all the good wishes and support I can get so I’m telling you and hoping you’ll think of me tomorrow morning between 9am and, oh, 11am. I ought to be finished by then. Ha!

Have a great weekend my friends and I’ll see you on Monday.

Assuming I survive the race. Heh.

  1. I love new crayons! Bobby Adams in the first grade was a bully and he broke all of mine. In those days living in Europe those were the only crayons you had all year long. They were ordered from the US months before. I view them as new beginnings of things to come- a fresh start. That’s what tomorrow will be- a continuation of a that new start and commitment at being healthier and fitter! Go you and can’t wait to see you there!

  2. Carole. I am so, so excited for you! You GO! (You really do know how to take on a challenge! You’re an inspiration.)

  3. You’re going to rock that race Carole! Like everyone said, just relax, take your time and have fun! It’s really fun to hang around and be cool after the race. (I hope they have beer there!)

  4. There is something so special about a box of new crayons. They exude hope, excitement, a the promise of new world of color opening up to the young mind. Your first run holds the same promise! You go grrl! You’ll be so happy and proud of yourself for taking on the challenge of bettering your life.

  5. When you get to the 5k tomorrow and feel all the positive energy from the other participants, you’ll feel like you’re running on a cloud! Enjoy yourself!

  6. You girls are going to rock it tomorrow!!! Have fun and I will be sending good vibes your way in the morning. 🙂

  7. I love new crayons – hubby still can’t understand why I insist on buying the girls new crayons each and every year when we have a whole bucket of crayons already! This is one battle he’s never going to win 😉 We are going to ROCK this race tomorrow! Can’t wait 🙂

  8. Go for it!!! Best of luck…but are you really going to make us all wait until Monday??? 🙂

  9. Rooting for you, grrl! Stupendous job to be going for that, AND to be doing it. I am very impressed.

  10. Good luck. If you are running it, then you will finish in under an hour easily. If you are walking it, then I am confident you will finish easily at about an hour.

You’ve been working towards this. If I can run as out of shape as I am for 30 minutes, then you can do this! Early congrats!

  11. Carole I have come out of my sleepy lurking state to tell you that you will kick ass and have a blast! Good for you; such an amazing accomplishment – just showing up and having the pluck to enter. When you finish you will be so stoked. Congratulations!!!

  12. Seems like lots of people love new crayons! September is a great month for new things and fresh starts. Wow, your first 5k! Enjoy it. You rock!

  13. Slow but steady wins the race. I’m sure you’ll be happy with yourself for this achievement. For me Saturday is the Endless Mountains Fiber Festival. It’s the yearly event for my area in Pennsylvania. Too bad your marathon didn’t end with some yarn and alpacas. Bet you’d make an excellent finishing time. You already made your own good luck by sticking with your new lifestyle.

  14. GO, GO, GO! I imagine you running wearing a little headband with a protruding stick from which dangles a small skein of delicious sock yarn instead of a carrot. P.S. New crayons smell as good as they look!

  15. I am EXTREMELY proud of you!!!! Will be sending energetic vibes. Even if it’s hard at point, just keep telling yourself that you can do it. You can!!

  16. Good for you! Think of how far you have come since you started this process. May you be safe from all injuries tomorrow!

  17. re: crayons–for about a decade i taught college courses for upper classmen, one or two classes a semester. In each class, for one of the in-class assignments I had them draw a picture (or two) with crayons on cardstock. We always began by smelling the crayons. This was their favorite thing they did all semester. I never had anyone refuse, and some even took the other class I taught so they could draw again! It never seemed to occur to them that they could draw without it being an assignment!
re: race–I will remember you tomorrow, and please you remember to have fun–it really isn’t a contest!

  18. Have a wonderful time and good wishes and good luck! My daughter is running in a 5K Zombie Run tomorrow. Would be more fun running I would think! 😉

  19. Good luck tomorrow! Worst case scenario, you walk part of it, & that’s not the end of the world. It’s going to be HOT, so be safe & stay hydrated!

  20. Good luck. We will be rooting for you. Can’t wait to hear how it goes tomorrow. Hopefully your part of the world is experiencing a bit of cool weather but of course we ask the weather goddess to with hold the rain until after you finish with grace.

  21. Wow! I know you’ll finish, and here I am at 8 am on the day sending you a good wishes to carry you on!
