I planted this butterfly bush three years ago and this year it has finally exploded and the butterflies have found it. Hooray!
And, you know what I’m going to say next . . .
HOORAY for the weekend! Make it a good one, friends.
Our anniversary was just a week before our trip to Maine and Dale came to me and said, in all earnestness, “I know I usually get you flowers on this day, but I didn’t because we’re leaving for Maine in a few days and I thought it would be better to get flowers to enjoy while we’re on vacation. There’s that florist at the Farmer’s Market that you love and I thought we could have her put a bouquet together for you. I just thought it would be more special to do it this way than to buy flowers here and not really have the time to enjoy them.”
Pretty darn perfect, that guy of mine. And so were the flowers.
Hope it’s a pretty darn perfect weekend, too!
Because Maine had a cool and wet spring the flora and fauna were a few weeks behind schedule when we were there. That means the lupine was still in full bloom. Lupine reminds me so much of our honeymoon and I was thrilled to see an abundance of it all along the roadways and coastline.
Enjoy this extended weekend, friends!
One of the unexpected (although I really should have anticipated it) pleasures of having window boxes is that they are beautiful not just from the outside but from the inside, too!
We’re off on our Maine adventure and I (probably) won’t be posting next week. You can always follow me on Instagram but be prepared for lots of lobster photos!
Take good care, friends.
