Currents

Here’s what’s happening in my world right now . . .

journaling for carole knits

Journaling: Every day. Sometimes lots of words, sometimes a sketch or drawing, always doodles and always with the addition of colored pencils.

Wearing: Green. Although it’s olive green and not a true Irish green. But still, I’m making my best effort so I don’t get pinched.

Anticipating: Corned Beef & Cabbage at the COA tonight. Our chef makes a delicious dinner and I can’t wait.

Reading: You guysssz, I just finished The Tsar of Love and Techno and it was phenomenal. So good. I’m grateful for Kym for pushing me to read this one since I was not a fan of A Constellation of Vital Phenomenon.

Listening: H is for Hawk on audio. I’m only a little over an hour in but it’s great.

Watching: House of Cards. We have 2 episodes left and I think this season has been so much better than the last.

Knitting: Socks with some truly vintage Knitterly Things Vesper Sock Yarn. And also a Zick Zack Scarf. A scarf on size 2 needles. This could take a while.

Loving: My new meditating habit. I’ve done this daily for over two months now and I’m at the point where I look forward to it every day. Is it perfect? No. But it’s practice and it has changed my life.

Hoping: We don’t have any more snow days. I’m trying to plan a June vacation and I need to be confident on when the last day of school will be.

Planning: Easter dinner. I make the same thing every year and I’m open to suggestions if you have any.

  1. Easter dinner is my nemesis. My beloved won’t eat ham or lamb and we are a family of two. I actually mentioned his favorite pizza place over the weekend and his eyes lit up. I think that may be our plan since Sunday is date night anyway. That probably doesn’t help you though.

  2. Not looking good for snowless Sunday/Monday coming up. Maybe not in your neck of the woods?

  3. Your journal looks so good. Mine is mostly words and I need to have some fun and do the doodling, too. Green socks…so glad I made green socks because I have no other green to wear. Enjoy your good food!

  4. My Easter dinner is the same every year, too. Although I do tend to go a little crazy with dessert . . . I’m so glad you liked The Tsar! It’s my favorite book in a very long time. (I wasn’t so crazy about H is for Hawk, though.) Here’s to no more snow days — and planning June vacations. (And journaling and meditating, too, for that matter.) XO

  5. This Italian girl totally forgot about wearing green. Hubby is making his corned beef. I will be eating Chinese food. I love your journal! There is a threat of the S word on Monday. I don’t believe it though.

  6. oh, and if you order a ham, add some Nuske Applewood Smoked Bacon to your cart too. Our local grocery store carries it and it is now the only bacon we buy.

  7. Journaling is the best – I have been writing regularly now for just over a year and it has truly helped me focus, solve problems, plan, dream, and just be a better writer!

As for Easter dinner… I am making a small leg of lamb and I think I will make a potato recipe from Jacques Pepin. And, maybe some spring peas? But, I have no clue about dessert…

  8. ha! too funny we both blogged about Currents today and we’re both in love with The Tsar of Love and Techno (I still have about 1/3 of the book to go) and journaling. and nice weather. your journal is way more photogenic than mine. I use markers, and I’m pretty messy. Maybe I’ll try colored pencils and being a bit more light-hearted. happy spring and all that 🙂

  9. I started meditating in late December and can’t believe how it’s improved my well being!! Funny how little changes can be big!

  10. I’ve heard a lot of good things about The Tsar of Love and Techno! I listened to H Is for Hawk last month, and it is SO GOOD, isn’t it?
