Weekending

May 16, 2017 By Carole

This weekend involved the usual things – Friday Night Snacks, Saturday errands, Mexican Train with friends – you know the drill around here. But this weekend also involved something really special: the wedding of my cousin Len’s daughter Megan to the love of her life, Jim. It was definitely the highlight of our weekend!

The weather was less than ideal for an outdoor wedding as it was windy and rainy and cold but everything was lovely inside. And warm.

Megan, bless her heart, had a love story theme for the wedding and this librarian felt right at home. The place cards were bookmarks, the tables were decorated with paper flowers made from book pages, and the favors were cookies made to look like little books. It was adorable and clever and perfectly wonderful.

The rain did let up enough for them to take some outside family and wedding party photos. I snapped this one through the window from where we were sitting – warm and dry on a nice comfy couch – but I love how it captures the moment. You can see everyone having a drink and a snack, just as we were doing inside. And boy were those pre dinner snacks fabulous! Chicken quesadillas, mini mugs of clam chowder, buffalo chicken purses, bruschetta, and mini ramekins of baked macaroni and cheese.  Everything was delicious and there was plenty of it, too.

Dale snapped this picture of Megan with Hannah and I and you can see Jim in the back there, too. Megan looked so beautiful, truly like a princess and it was wonderful to see so much joy on everyone’s faces.

And here I am with my cousin, Len, who has become more like a brother to me than a cousin. I am so grateful for his presence in my life and felt so blessed to celebrate this amazing day with my family. It was a great way to spend Mother’s Day, I can tell you that.

Hope your weekend was great, too!

This rainy day bride has almost 30 happy years under her belt so I suspect they are well on their way to a lifetime of happiness. Congratulations all around…what a wonderful day!

Sounds like a lovely time. they say its good luck if it rains on your wedding day, it did on ours 26 years ago,so I don’t know if its true but I’ll take it.

What a beautiful celebration! Weather is obviously an overrated part of the planning … clearly the chilly rain didn’t matter one bit!
