Thursday Things

May 23, 2019 By Carole

Happy Thursday! There were a few times this week when I thought this day would never get here. Now that it has I have 3 things to share with you: things I’m excited about right now.

  1. Plant shopping! We’ve had a super rainy spring and I’m way behind on getting things in the ground and in containers on the deck. BUT! Doreen is coming for the day tomorrow and we will be hitting my favorite local nurseries and planting will happen on Saturday. I think I’m going to go heavy on the coleus this year in the containers but I also need herbs and tomato plants and some other vegetable plants. Oh! And Dale built the raised bed for my cut flower garden last Sunday so I absolutely must get those seedlings in there this weekend. I’m exciting about playing in the dirt.
  2. Memorial Day Weekend is (just about) here! Hooray! It’s the true kick off to summer and I couldn’t be happier about that. I am truly excited about the deck and the pergola and driving the Mustang with the top down and just being outside as much as the weather allows. I look forward to these days all year long and I want to make the most of them.
  3. Summer Book Bingo! Yes, that’s right. Mary changed her mind and decided to set up Bingo cards and host a summer reading program after all. I printed out my card yesterday (I hit refresh A LOT until I got what I wanted) and I’ll be tracking all the books I finish from now until Labor Day. Will I get a cover all? Will I have to be creative with fitting the books I read into the squares I have? Stay tuned!

And that’s a wrap for this Thursday. If you wrote a post for today please share it so that we can all visit you and read it.

Three things to be excited about indeed.
I love plant shopping! I’m trying to restrain myself until we move, but once we have…
Wishing you happy summer days! (and nope, having summer all year long does not get old – I love summer!)

Carole, I LOVE coleus! Costco actually had some stunning containers–deep pinkish maroon and chartreuse. Stopped me in my tracks. Have fun with it, and enjoy the holiday weekend!

Three very fun things to look forward to! And just think, you can do all of them during this holiday weekend and continue throughout the summer!

I have a full list of things I want to get done over the weekend! And, that list includes filling all the flower pots! I have my garden in – but I do need a few more herbs! I am hoping your weekend sees no rain at all!

Hope you have a great holiday weekend. It’s definitely going to feel like summer here – it’s supposed to get up into the upper 90’s. I’m already wishing for fall!

I’m also looking forward to planting my patio pots. Smith has the main garden taken care of so I just play with flowers. I’m still waiting for the sun!

I hope the weather cooperates and you get plenty of time to play in the dirt, because I am really looking forward to seeing that garden!

A great weekend ahead! We’ll be planting too…but mostly visiting as Dan arrives tomorrow morning. Yay! And double yay to book bingo!

So excited about summer! And so far behind in my garden. The weather has been really tricky this year so far with lots of rain and colder-than-usual weather. And the weeds. (My god the weeds.) I will likely hit the nurseries this weekend, too. Excited to get to planting!

The weather has been uber wonky here—nothing much planted yet which is way behind. So, like you I need to be planting.

The weather has NOT been cooperating here in northern Maine–hoping to see some sunshine soon! Where can I join in on the Bingo fun?

I actually started learning about making sourdough bread a week before the stay at home orders thanks to @sprboston as he shared his starter and recipe and technique with me. Since then I have kept Mama Cass fed and alive and have baked many loaves of bread. This one might be my best one yet. I did the final proof in the fridge for 24 hours and baked it from its cold state.
