Weekending

I think a 5 day weekend deserves the return of a weekending post . . .

There was Thanksgiving, of course. We had a last minute change and dinner was just for Dale and I. It was actually special in a whole different way and we enjoyed the relaxed timeline that came with having only ourselves to consider.

I still made all the usual dishes and of course we had too much. But leftovers from this meal are the super bowl of leftovers and we wouldn’t want to miss out on that.

The obligatory food shot. Give me all the gravy.

We spent the bulk of the weekend at home. In fact, I didn’t leave the house from Tuesday evening until Sunday morning. Like many introverts, I was made to withstand a pandemic, friends.

While home we played cards and ate snacks.

We decorated for Christmas.

And we counted ourselves lucky to be able to be home.

  1. What a lovely weekend, Carole! (And your holiday bedroom? Like I said before . . . I’d never leave that space.) XO

  2. Our big outing was to deliver mashed potatoes and gravy to a youth home. That’s it. It’s not quite as luxurious to just relax at home these days, but we’ll take it.

  3. Trees in your bedroom, how festive! I’m not doing as much decorating indoors this year. Instead I concentrated on outdoors so I can give my neighbors some holiday joy. Nothing too crazy just some good old New England sparkle!

  4. Amen to all that. We are embracing the inner hermit, or perhaps the hibernating bear.

  5. Your weekend does look delightful, but there is the small matter of your food types touching each other that made me quickly scroll past that photo. My plate needs to have a small but very distinct space around each food, and two types are never eaten together with the exception of turkey and cranberry sauce. (And of course pie and whipped cream!)

  6. Lovely weekend! It was quiet here most of the time (save for some Zoom calls full of giggles and laughter) We started Christmas decorating as well… no tree yet, maybe today!

  7. I cooked all the requisite dishes, too, even though it was only the two of us. I did scale back a bit on quantities, but we still have some leftovers. I think maybe today is turkey soup after the carcass cooking in the crockpot all night. I feel very grateful that I am such an introvert. It has made these times easier for me. Your bedroom looks like a department store window, Carole!

  8. Just two of us as well – with a delivery to an aunt and uncle. I did got to a couple of stores for small business Saturday but other than that it was great to stay home! Your table is beautiful…but that bedroom…what Kym said!
