Weekending, Feb 20th-22nd, 2026

Hello from the South Shore of Massachusetts, the epicenter of Snowmageddon 2026. I’m grateful that for now our power is still on. I can’t see out a single window of my house as this Nor’easter has coated every window in snow. We’re in the thick of it now and it’s expected to last all day. The Governor has declared a State of Emergency, my Select Board met yesterday over Zoom to declare the same for our town, mostly because it helps with getting FEMA funds after things are over. Hopefully all the preparation done by our team here will get everyone through safely.

As for the rest of the story, Friday night we went to the wedding of my godson, Alex. He is my best friend Doreen’s oldest and I’ve known him literally since the day he was born.

They got married at the historic Thomas Crane Library in Quincy. The setting was beautiful and it was snowing and it felt like being at Hogwarts at Christmas.

It was a small gathering, which I find to be perfectly charming, with a dinner afterwards at Mason’s Steakhouse. The setting was gorgeous and the company was wonderful.

I’m really proud of the man Alex has become and I wish him a lifetime of happiness with his new bride.

How was your weekend?

  1. I love a small, intimate wedding. This one looks absolutely lovely, and your description of it makes it even better. I have had you and Bonny in my thoughts this past weekend. I hope you and yours stay safe and warm!

  2. We had predictions of 2″ to 2’… and our reality was way less than 2″… the good thing is that late February snows of any amount don’t last long. I hope you have gotten the worst of the storm and it eases up quickly! You and Bonny have been on my mind… stay safe my friend!

  3. Stay safe and warm!! And fingers crossed your power does stay on. That sounds like such a sweet wedding and what a handsome couple!

  4. I’m glad you’ve still got power; we do, too, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed for everyone. It was interesting to wake up and not be able to see out any windows, and the wind is still howling. The wedding looks really lovely and I’m glad the storm didn’t interrupt it. Wishing you all the best during the rest of the storm!

  5. I hope you’re able to enjoy a lovely snow day! Thinking of you all today & hoping that it’s uneventful… other than a big shoveling job.

I love a small wedding. Everyone looks so happy!
