The other day I reorganized the supply cart in my studio. It was a spontaneous…
Weekending, Feb 27th – March 1st, 2026
Just a photo from each day to share with you on this first Monday in March.

From Friday night: Blue Cheese Stuffed Olives. I only recently started making these at home, thanks to a couple of tips from my favorite bartender, Emma. Her secrets: wear gloves, use extra big olives, and use blue cheese crumbles. So simple and such an improvement over a regular olive.

From Saturday: An Eastern Bluebird at the Bird Buddy. They are in our yard regularly but Dale recently got some fresh mealworms for them and they are more prevalent at the feeder as a result. I love seeing their bright blue feathers against the stark white snow. Yesterday I was sure I saw a red winged blackbird but then talked myself out of it because it’s just a few weeks too early. Then Dale came in and said he heard one. So, hullo spring, they are back!

From Sunday: Waffles for breakfast. They take a little more effort than our usual eggs on Sunday morning but they are worth it and such a delicious treat. Add some sausage and fruit and I am set until dinner time.
Other things I did this weekend that aren’t pictured: read (and finished) This Book Made Me Think of You, watched Song Sung Blue and I highly recommend that you do as well, knit Hannah’s Waffle Pullover, and hung around with Dale.
How was your weekend?

What a nice weekend! Fletch has seen a Red Winged Blackbird in our yard and Colin has been hearing them. Colin also sees Bluebirds in his yard regularly…I’m waiting. Saturday here felt like Spring – it was gorgeous!
Your weekend looks delicious! I love waffles but don’t even have a waffle make. I may need to remedy that. I haven’t seen or heard any red-winged blackbirds here yet, but hopefully soon!
I saw two red-winged blackbirds last week as well! Crazy! I have never seen them this early! (but yes, Hey Spring… so glad you are here!)
Your weekend looks just like my perfect weekend, Carole. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed the pictures. I have had red winged blackbirds here, and I had an eastern bluebird visit during the recent 2 week ice storm (weird), but not since then. I have tried to entice bluebirds to my yard, but it is just way too busy for bluebirds, I think. Yes, spring is definitely here, but the weather can be tricky this time of year!
