The last rose of summer. The first is full of promise of all that is…
Eye Candy Friday
Today’s Eye Candy Friday is brought to you by my new knowledge of Photoshop and my new love of textures. I can see how this could easily become addicting! I can also see how it could become really easy to take this too far and I think it’s going to be important to know, as my mother used to say, when to say when. Some pictures are truly just fine straight out of the camera, after all. This tulip, however, looked a lot like every other tulip picture I had taken until I added a texture background to it. Now it looks all vintage-y and cool. Shut up, vintagey- is too a word.
And that’s all for me this week. Have an awesome weekend!

Okay. I definitely need to start using PhotoShop to do more! That is just beautiful, Carole. You inspire me.
The background gave this tulip the look of a vintage-y valentine. Now all you need is to scallop the edges and add a ribbon. Very cool.
I agree with Jill! Lovely.
That’s really pretty Carole! I agree you could take it too far to the edge of tacky, but this one is just perfect. 🙂
I think I may have to get some tulips too this weekend. 🙂
Vintagey is a good thing and very cool. Your photo is perfect!
Perfect! I love it. One of the interesting things about taking a class is they way you end up looking at (and/or scrutinizing) other people’s photographs and figuring out what they’ve done, finding what you like and dislike, etc.
Have a great weekend, Carole!
It looks terrific! When you launch your line of note cards (hint, hint), you should include this one.
Before I read your text, my first thought was, “Hey, cool postcard!’. So, yeah, I think you done good. Perhaps the rule of thumb for dressing up works with PhotoShop, too? Get all dressed up, and then remove one accessory, and you’re usually just right. So maybe one less effect than you’re tempted to do? Have fun!
Hey, you are a librarian. I ‘m not going to argue with you over what is a word. 🙂
Beautiful picture.
I love the results of your new adventure.
Very, very pretty. I’d say you said “when” at the right spot for this shot … I have played around with textures, and you’re right, it’s very easy to go overboard. You have such a good eye, I have confidence you’ll know if it happens.
You really do have a good eye. The photo is lovely.
Love it!
yay! gorgeous shot and inspired use of texture (also love the watermark 🙂
Love it!
Very cool. Is this an on-line class?
Very nice indeed! Just what we need – another rabbit hole to fall down :^) have fun!
That is great! TGIF Carole!
It is great seeing how your photography (or photo manipulation rather) is changing as you go through this class. Very interesting, and lots of lovely images.
Just bought CS5 but am having trouble installing it on my Mac. 🙁 Learning photoshop thoroughly is on my retirement list of to-do’s.
You are getting so good at that. Great picture.
