Unraveling

Joining with Kat and friends today, I am sharing my reading and knitting. Sort of.

I am reading Confederates in the Attic. It’s for the bingo square “recommended by a family member” and I’m sure it’s no surprise that Dale has been encouraging me to read this for a long time. I’m almost done and it’s good and I’ve mostly been enjoying it but I do find parts of it a bit tedious. I hope to be finished by the end of the day.

I am knitting something super secret and can’t tell you more than this: it’s going well and I’m about half done.

What are you knitting and reading right now? Visit Kat’s blog to see what our little circle of knitters and readers are doing this week.

  1. I was reading an article this morning on “reading diversely” and how good it is for our brains. So, good for you for doing this! And… your super secret knitting looks beautiful! I can’t wait to see it when it is done! XO

  2. Unraveling is certainly an apt term for what is happening in our world today, and I presume you chose it deliberately.

  3. I can’t say that I’ll be adding Confederates in the Attic to my list, but I think it’s wonderful to read something that Dale is so interested in. I will admit that “Atlanta loomed in my imagination like a blimp-sized smile button” piques my interest!

  4. Confederates in the Attic is on my desk at work, I have read part of it recommended by one of the guys at work, will have to get back to it….socks on my needles is all I can handle this week

  5. I am waiting for the “luxury of time” to be able to add books to my Bingo card. Reading and knitting are taking a back seat to “life”.

  6. Reading two books right now. Mississippi Blood by Greg Iles. 3rd in a trilogy. Reading it out loud and it is full of action and a long book. Listening to an audiobook by Ruth Ware “In a dark dark wood”. It is creepy and I have no idea where she is taking me. Love this author’s style.

About to start a wedding shawl for my niece who is getting married in October. Yarn is caked and pattern printed. It is a rectangle that hopefully looks more complicated than it is. Pattern is “Dancing Cranes” on Ravelry.

    Happy Summer reading and knitting!

  7. YOU are a peach for reading that book, you know! (I bet Dale is thrilled.) I’m just reading along at a good clip these days . . . but my knitting is in super slow motion! XO

  8. yay for reading diversely (and for reading something Dale recommended)! but I think you need a bit of fluff now – what squares are left? can you fit that in somewhere?

  9. Ooo sounds interesting. I’m reading/listening through summer bingo-I’ve got 3 books going, and Tide Chart which I hope to have finished for Alaska. I’d love to have a pair of fingerless mitt, but that might be airplane knitting. I’ve rented a [up to ]300 mm telephoto lens and a wide angle to test drive at the Botanical Gardens tomorrow. I’m sorta hooked on the telephoto so these may be going with me on our trip-hope to post some photos.

  10. Ah, it is good to stretch now and then, don’t you think? Read something out of the ordinary, eat something different, listen to a new band, learn something…
