The last rose of summer. The first is full of promise of all that is…
Eye Candy Friday 17/30
I got this Christmas cactus four years ago at the wedding of our own dear Mama Cate. I’m thrilled when it blooms every year even if it does get confused and bloom for Halloween and Thanksgiving instead of Christmas!
Can you believe this is the last weekend before Thanksgiving? I’ll be making pie crust and gravy and also doing some entertaining, which I love. Mostly, though, I’m excited for a weekend at home.

Christmas-shmistmas. I think it’s lovely that it continues to bloom. I wonder if it isn’t something like the amount of light it gets that causes it to bloom and it lives too far north of its’ natural habitat? Happy weekend!
Pretty! Have a great weekend Carole.
Love your cactus! I have one that looks like it will give me a couple of hot pink flowers pretty soon.
The cactus looks beautiful Carole! Mine is throwing some lovely blooms too. Have a wonderful weekend at home!
Mine always bloom for Thanksgiving, too. With a special-bonus-repeat-bloom at Valentine’s Day. (I wonder if any of them actually bloom at Christmas???) Enjoy your weekend! XO
I’m in denial about Thanksgiving being next week
Those are very pretty blooms! Mine have all blossomed already, except my largest one seems to be getting new buds for a second round of blossoms. Fingers crossed … Have a lovely weekend at home!
I have a very old Christmas cactus that belonged to my grandmother, she got it sometime in the 1950s, and it blooms at Christmas time every year. The blooms are slightly smaller & more delicate than on some of the newer varieties. I will be making pie crusts too, crisco crusts like my grandma taught me!
Your blossoms are gorgeous. My cactus has no sign of blossoms. I think it might need more attention than I give it, and maybe more water. Enjoy your Thanksgiving prep!!
Maybe beautiful red cactus has the right idea—get a good start on holiday festivities! Enjoy your weekend!
That’s a gorgeous cactus! I’ve never had one of my own. Hm. I’m hoping that I get in the swing of things this weekend!!
Oh wow! That is gorgeous!
I seem to remember my Grandma putting her Christmas cactus in the closet? I’m guessing it had something to do with the timing of the blooms. She was an accomplished gardener that won prizes for her roses.
Agreeing with others, blooms are perfect no matter when they come. I saw your stack of piecrusts on IG – looks like a great start … and I know you’re enjoying the weekend at home!
Beautiful-you really have a green thumb. I can’t believe Thanksgiving is in just a few days. I told Andrew we’re going to have to buy a turkey on our way home from DC so it’s thawed in time-what a story that turkey will have to tell! So looking forward to his adventure in the NE.
