Weekending

I took some photos over the weekend. Want to see them?

This greeted me when I got up to make my coffee on Friday morning. He’s a romantic, that husband of mine.

Friday Night Snacks. It was our anniversary but we didn’t go out, we chose to stay home and have snacks on the deck and then we watched our wedding video and perused our wedding album. We’re cheesy like that.

Our Town Common on Saturday morning. It was the annual Tutu Run and Sparklefest that is sponsored by a local family who turned the tragic death of their little girl into a wonderful community event for our town. Dale and I rode our bikes down and hung out at the Kiwanis table for a while (Kiwanis is a sponsor of this event every year) and we also took the opportunity to visit with friends and neighbors who were also there.

We spent the afternoon working in the yard (more on that later) and the evening partly on the deck, partly in the kitchen (grilled scallops, baked potatoes, and sauteed zucchini with mushrooms and garlic scapes were on the menu), and partly in the living room where we finished up Season 8 of Call the Midwife.

The kids came over on Sunday afternoon for Father’s Day. We had a delicious hummus platter and shrimp cocktail for starters and then burgers and dogs on the grill.

It was drizzly off and on but Dale put a canvas covering over the pergola so we were still able to be outside and dry. Jackie was all over the yasr, getting muddy and wet and, as his mother said, living his best life.

You can’t ask for more than that from a weekend!

  1. Another wonderful weekend, Carole. Thanks for sharing it with us (although those jackets . . . in mid-June . . . just not right). Happy anniversary! XO

  2. You packed a lot of good things into your weekend. June weather (around here) can be iffy (especially this year). Looks like you knew how to make the most of it!

  3. I’m glad you had a wonderful weekend Carole! And that hummus platter looks amazing and pretty easy. I’ve got to try that for sure.

  4. So much fun in a weekend! I love that you spent your anniversary looking at your wedding photos. Dale is brilliant for figuring out a way that you could be outside despite the rain. And yum, that hummus platter!

  5. Looks like a very lovely weekend. I still have a couple episodes of CTM to finish-no way my husband would watch that with me!
