Summer Weekends, June 14-16, 2024

Summer weekend #3 did not disappoint, it was full of summer fun and summer food.

We celebrated our anniversary by having lobster rolls for lunch at a new-to-us place in Bournedale, which is just this side of the bridge to the Cape. I’ve driven by this clam shack many, many times but never stopped before now. It was terrific! We had planned to have Friday Night Snacks on the deck that evening but thunderstorms derailed that plan.

Dale and I ran errands together on Saturday, going to local spots for steaks for the grill and strawberries for shortcake. It’s especially nice now to be fueled by ice coffee prepared at home. We also (finally) started the current series of Bridgerton.

Sunday was Father’s Day and we started with breakfast cooked on the Weber griddle. I’m just learning how to use this and it’s really fun so far.

Hannah came over in the afternoon and Jess and Jackie came over a little later in the day. We had burgers (Dale’s favorite) and strawberry shortcake for dessert and it was so good.

I think a weekend that starts with lobster rolls and ends with strawberry shortcake is a classic New England summer weekend!

  1. You ate very well this weekend indeed! A lobster roll just screams summer to me, and sadly it’s very hard to find a good one around here.

  2. It looks like a fabulous weekend! You had plenty to celebrate, and you certainly made the best of the weather, the food, and the company! (happy Monday!)
