Three On Thursday 1/52

Hello and welcome to Three On Thursdays for 2025. I am planning on keeping this format for the year and you can see that I’ve numbered the title to reflect that intention. Even though I don’t host a link up for this weekly theme, you are welcome to join me and write about 3 things on your own blog in the spirit of solidarity. This week I have some random thoughts to share.

  1. Did you notice the blog font was huge the last couple of days? It was not something I did and I could not figure out how to fix it. I thought perhaps Fred & George had changed a setting or something (they love to walk across and/or lie on my laptop keyboard) but the mystery was solved on New Year’s Eve. You see, my tech guy is also a friend and here was here for our annual little party, and we were discussing an issue I had been having with the library website. And then I said to him, my blog . . . and before I could go any further he said . . . the font is weirdly huge. And we laughed. Turns out it was due to an update he had installed but he thought it was something I had done and didn’t want to change it without checking with me first. It looks normal again to me but please let me know if you see anything weird on your end.
  2. I probably should have shared some thoughts yesterday on how I came to choose my OLW, Fearless, but I was in a rush to get that post up on time. I’m sure I’ll be talking about it here as the year progresses anyway. The word came to me last fall, right around my birthday, I think. And it just stuck around ever since. I tried to change it to something similar like brave or confident but fearless has a different connotation. It’s more intrepid, it’s more bold, it’s more carefree. I just keep asking myself, what could I do if I was fearless? I’m excited to answer that question over the next little while.
  3. A reminder that our Read With Us discussion on Intermezzo is next Tuesday, January 7th at 7pm. Kym and Bonny and I are doing a Zoom today to plan for our time together, actually. I finished the book only recently and absolutely loved it and I’m eager to share my thoughts about it and hear what you thought about it, too. If you plan on attending, please let Kym know of let me know in the comments and I’ll pass your info along to her.

And that’s all I have for this first Thursday of 2025. Have a great day, whatever you’re doing.

  1. And here, I thought you were making the font bigger for all the old eyes in your readership! (This morning the font is minuscule!)

I think your word is FANTASTIC! Exploring fearless will be so fun!

  2. Looking forward to your fearless pursuit of fearlessness!

(The font today, as Kat says, is minuscule. I’ve always had your page set at 110% in my browser but now it’s at 150%, and it’s still quite small. (Firefox on my Dell laptop). I wonder if it got bigger when you added the snowflakes…)

  3. I hadn’t noticed the larger font, but like Mary and Kat, I do notice that it’s miniscule today! If you see the tech guy, these old eyes could use a larger font. I’ll be seeing you in a few minutes and can tell you in person!

  4. Well. From my view, nothing has changed about the font. It was never BIG the other day, and it’s not minuscule now. I think Word Press messes with us in very annoying ways . . .

  5. Weirdly, I haven’t noticed a change in the font — it’s looked the same to me as it always does! I wonder if our browsers have display settings that change how we see it? Anyway, I am looking forward to the RWU discussion, as always.
