Three On Thursday

Today I’m sharing 3 things I’ve done this week that have helped me feel productive. And, while I don’t love that productivity makes me feel better about myself, I accept that it’s a thing for me and embrace it when I can.

  1. The Christmas tree is up and decorated. It sat for a few days with just lights but last night we got it done. We also watched Elf while we did it and we ate oysters. This may be a fine new tradition and it’s definitely an incentive for getting it done.
  2. I saw my doctor yesterday for a follow up appointment related to some things from my physical and all is well. The results of my echocardiogram are normal and my mitral valve prolapse is still minor. I wasn’t really worried about this, exactly, but no doctor has ordered an echo in the last 30 years and it feels great to have that done and know that I don’t need a cardiologist.
  3. I am working on all the lists. The shopping list. The cookie baking list. The food to prepare list. And I’m ordering things accordingly, like plastic plates and utensils and napkins for our Christmas Eve party. I’m checking off boxes and feeling organized and getting prepped for all of it. And my favorite day of the year, December 26th, is two weeks from today!

What’s on your list this week?

  1. Congratulations, Carole, it seems you are on top of all the Christmas stuff. I am not, but I don’t have nearly as much to do. Do I need to guess why December 26th is your favorite day of the year?

  2. My Christmas ducks are not in a row. In fact, I’ve been adding ducks left and right as I’m trying to help my parents fill in their list. Not usually my approach, but it seems important this year and I’ve learned my weird urgency voice sometimes knows something I don’t. So, here we are.

I would like to point out that a good tree decorating tradition is only bad if it involves liquor and fire simultaneously. Sounds like you’ve got a good new tradition.

  3. I’m kind of a low-key Christmas person, and that fits in just fine with the rest of my family that are almost non-celebraters. Sometimes I miss the excitement the kids had when they were young but I don’t miss them waking me up at 4:00 am to see if Santa visited.

  4. I am so glad your doctor visit was good! I have a few straggling things on my get-done-before Friday list… I should have them all crossed off today though! (I admit… wrapping presents with Frankie is a challenge I did not anticipate!)

  5. The best thing about your post: GOOD NEWS from your doctor! It’s always such a relief to get good results, and I’m happy to hear that you’re healthy and doing well. XO (And it’s also nice to feel organized and productive! This is certainly the time of year for All The Lists!)

  6. Nothing wrong with feeling productive… in moderation. 🙂 Happy to hear that you had good news from your doc! I’ve had various lists going, but really need to pull it all together this weekend in some organized fashion (and also find a few things that I “tucked away”… oh, but WHERE??).

  7. I need to take a page from your book and start making my lists before we leave for our trip! But first I’ve got to get everything together for my kiddo’s birthday this weekend. Thankfully there’s no big party to plan (she’s having a friend sleepover and we’re doing a family brunch), but I feel like I need to get through that before I can start thinking about vacation.

  8. That’s great progress! I have “bake cookies” on my list for this week – cookie swap on Sunday!
