Well. Thank you all so much for your questions yesterday! You have certainly given me…
Three On Thursday

Do I even have to say this is going to be a random post? Or can we all just assume that Thursdays are now a catch all for the things going on around here?
- I got Fred & George two new things this week. One is a puzzle board for their treats so that they have to slide levers or push aside things to find them. The other is a motorized drinking fountain that simulates a faucet. Watching them with the puzzle board is very funny and they are definitely fast learners and have figured out how to push aside the leaves that cover up the treats rapidly. They also seem to be enjoying the drinking fountain. George in particular likes to drink from the faucet so I knew he would appreciate this upgrade and even Fred is drinking more water. Male Siamese cats are prone to kidney problems later in life so I’m really hoping that this will increase their water intake regularly and help stave off those issues when they are older.
- We had what appears to be a microburst in our yard last night. The furniture on the deck is in disarray and both of our tall outdoor heaters were knocked over. The glass tube in one of them is shattered, which is a drag, but I’m not sure if I will replace it. They have served us well over the years but our Solo stove is more fun and the heaters are heavy to move around and sometimes just plain in the way.
- I am itching to get into the garden. Yesterday I gave all the houseplants in my office at work a really good trim, a sure sign that I am restless to play in the dirt. The good news is that the hellebores are starting to show buds and new growth and the extended forecast looks favorable so I hope to get out there this weekend and pull away the leaves that have collected around them and cut back last year’s leaves and make room for their beautiful flowers.
What’s going on with you these days?
Oh man, that is not good news about your outdoor heaters! Yikes! The weather switched over so fast yesterday and the winds… my goodness! But I love a drinking fountain for cats… I bet they love it! I was out looking at my yard yesterday in the sunshine… I have things popping up all over!
I’m thankful that the only casualty from that microburst was the one glass tube — could’ve been much worse! I have seen those treat/food puzzles for dogs but didn’t know they made them for cats as well (it seems logical now that I think about it, but I’ve never had a cat). I’m sure it’s fun to watch the boys play!
So sorry about your microburst! The wind gusts here have been crazy this year. I love the idea of the drinking fountain and puzzle board. What a great cat mommy you are, Carole. I, too, am itching for spring. The air is beginning to smell like spring around here, little green shoots and warming soil. It’s almost here!
Like Sarah, I knew about those puzzle boards for dogs but didn’t know they made them for cats! I’ve thought of a drinking fountain for Mabel, but honestly I’m not sure where I would put it. I usually add water to Mabel’s canned food to provide extra moisture – Mabel is on Team Gravy – the more the better! And, she drinks out of the bird bath (Yuck – but apparently bird flavored water works for her). We’ve been having (again) ferocious winds. Every morning I find things knocked over on our patio, but I think that’s from the raccoon, not the wind!
Oh that puzzle would be a great gift! Sitting here in Miami waiting for a plane…I heard it was dicey there last night. Glad you didn’t have too much trouble. (We have one with a tube too…it looks nice but doesn’t give out 1/2 the heat of the tall one and is kind of awkward space wise!)
We’ve got high winds today and of course, it’s also trash day. I’ve already picked up our bin once, along with scattered trash in the street. It takes a lot of wind to blow over those trash bins and even more to blow over a heater. F&G get all the fun stuff!
