The Read With Us Lounge: That’s A Wrap
It’s the last Monday in August and we’ve decided to close the Read With Us Lounge this week. I know, I’m sad, too. Because summer reading, however you approach it, is really special. I hope you enjoyed our virtual lounge and I hope you discovered something new about your summer reading habits. Mostly, though, I hope you read some really great books.
We covered a lot of ground this summer. We talked about library usage, funding, and Libby. We covered author talks, self imposed reading rules, and vacation reading. We considered who influences us as readers and how we choose our books, banning the shoulds, DNFing, and so much more. We did all of this without Bingo cards or incentives. Without elaborate schemes and fanfare. We just read books.
I can’t think of a better way to spend the summer and I hope you had as much fun as Bonny, Kym, and I did. Don’t forget to email me your mailing address if you want a commemorative Read With Us Lounge sticker. And remember: read what you love and forget about the rules because . . . there aren’t any.

Summer reading: I’m not sure my reading in the summer is much different from the rest of the year. This summer has been exceptional because some of my favorite authors released new books. Shout out to Ann Patchett, Douglas Stuart, Elizabeth Strout, and new author Sarah Maurer. I’m looking forward to the new releases in the fall (Barbara Kingsolver anyone?)

I had too much going on in my life this summer to read as much as I would have liked, but the reading lounge kept me curious and on track to read as I could. I enjoyed everyone’s participation very much! Learned about new books, other’s reading habits, and it made reading feel fresh again in some ways. Thanks, Carole!
