Unraveled, September 2, 2026

Back in the swing of things and joining up with Kat and the other knitters and readers of our world.

One feather and fan sock is finished and the second has substantial progress on the leg. My self imposed deadline is Labor Day. We shall see.

I read several books since I last shared an unraveled post and I will give full reviews on all of them soon. Yesterday I finished a re-read of Year of Wonders by Geraldine Brooks for my library book club. It was just as good as when I first read it many years ago but it definitely hit differently now that I have lived through a pandemic. I hope our discussion today is a good one. I have a bunch of ARCs with October deadlines but before I get to those I am going to read The Mad Wife by Meagan Church.

  2. I just finished up 36 newborn hats for our local maternity ward, several of which are pumpkins!!! I also finished reading, “Dear Debbie”. I love that author’s books for a fun read. I was hooked for the month of August on Iris Starling’s book (if you call it a book), “The Killer Isn’t Alice”. I finally found the killer last night and was so excited. It wasn’t my usual August reading, but it was a fun distraction from life.

  3. I am reading Country People by Daniel Mason. Hoping to finish by Friday as I need to start Whistler this weekend for a mid September book club.

  4. I’m betting you can finish those socks by Monday! I’m hoping to finish up the mittens I’ve been knitting tonight (bulky yarn on size 10 needles — they go fast) and am about to start The Amateur. I put it on hold based on your recommendation and just got it from the library yesterday!

  5. The socks will be pretty whenever they are finished. Feather and fan is a classic. I needed something light so I’m almost finished with some historical fiction, The Queens of Crime.
