10 Minutes A Day?

ETA: Due to public demand (yeah, right) I started a Ravelry group called (what else?) Ten Minutes a Day

Remember my 10 minutes a day spinning pledge? I sort of fell off the wagon. I’m blaming the heat wave we had this week because up until then I was doing pretty good. I can prove it, too.

There’s 400 yards of this unidentified BFL. Sharon says I bought it at Rhinebeck last year, but I honestly have no memory of purchasing it. It’s nice, though.

And there’s 220 yards of this Spunky Eclectic monthly fiber club offering from May. The color is a bit too washed out for my taste but I’m sure I’ll find something suitable to do with it.

The heat wave has broken so I’m hoping for a return of the spinning mojo and my 10 minutes per day commitment. Judy (who is really on board with this 10 minute thing) demanded encouraged that I make a button for all of us 10 minuters.

There you go, Judy. Anyone else want to spin along? It’s only 10 minutes a day, you know.

  1. That may be just what I need to get my spinning mojo back. I haven’t spun since shortly after SPA! I certainly can do 10 minutes a day (I hope) 🙂

  3. I fell off the wagon too. Time to hop back on, but I find the last week of school for my youngest 2 kids makes for a very crazy schedule so we’ll see. Purty skeins! What weight? Fingering?

  4. Wow! The BFL is gorgeous!

I actually jumped on the 10 minute bandwagon last time you mentioned it, but since I am spinning about a billion yards of lace weight, I have a bobbin to show, and that’s about it.

Thanks for the button and the updates though. It’s keeping me motivated.

  5. I have been trying for a while but the heat got to me! Started again last night and lost track of time! How do I add the button?

  6. Your 10 minutes a day post sunk into my subconscious… I’ve been taking 10 minutes each morning before I hop in the shower to work on my super-old UFO jaywalkers. It seems slow-going, and then voila, I’m halfway down the foot! And then I vaguely think about your post and marvel at how right you were.

I’m not formally joining, because that’ll just mean I’ll immediately stop. (Sadly, I know myself too well.) But it’s working for me so far anyway 🙂

  7. I’ve actually been trying to be good about spinning a little every day, but I know the minute I put a button on, I will stop… I told Margene today, must be the rebel in me when it comes to joinalongs…grin….so I will spin with you in spirit.

  8. I have my AA electric set up in the living room and am not getting to it every day, but most, usually for closer to an hour. The light comes in at a slant in the late afternoon and the birds sing and it’s such a lovely spot to sit and spin…

Starting something new today — need to dig through the stash to decide what to spin, though I’d love to reclaim the broom closet and will probably just start with the top bag of sliver in the pile. Thanks for devising a way to nag us all gently!

  9. Beautiful yarn! I really should spin 10 minutes a day. I put my wheel upstairs since we got the dog last weekend. I wasn’t sure what to expect and I didn’t a hurt wheel or hurt dog. 🙂 I’ll try to find a comfy spinning spot upstairs.

  10. I love the colorway of your Rhinebeck BFL. It’s beautiful! I’ve not been able to do the 10 minutes a day. It seems like it always turns into 30 or 60 minutes. It’s just what I need!

  11. Oh boy, that BFL is gorgeous. How could you forget colors like that? 😉

I sat down at the wheel yesterday for the first time in, uh, weeks. This ten minute thing could be good for me.
