Weekending

April 4, 2011 By Carole

Taking a queue from The Habit of Being, I want to share the highlights of my weekend.

In no particular order, I:

  • Knit. I finished a pair of socks and started another pair.
  • Spent some time spinning. 2 oz, to be exact.
  • Crocheted. Not a lot but enough to say I am practicing.
  • Engaged in political discussions. Our local selectman’s race is proving to be quite controversial this year.
  • Finished How to Knit a Heart Back Home. It was wonderful.
  • Made a chocolate cream pie. Delicious!
  • Went to dinner at a friend’s house. The food was great and the company was even better.
  • Attended a birthday party for a dear friend. While there I made plans to do a family photo shoot with a sweet young family and their dog. This will be good experience for me and I hope I can make some beautiful photos for them.

What did you do this weekend?

I: Friday: soccer game. Saturday: soccer game, hung out for a few minutes!, lacrosse game, out to dinner, and watched basketball. Sunday: food shopping and, wait for it, went to another lacrosse game, hockey party, shopping with the girl. Ate dinner and then did some work and to bed. I need another weekend!!

This weekend was my spinning guild’s meeting. This meeting featured a needle felting workshop. I could really get into this! Another fiber addiction could be dangerous. Other than that I’ve up too late watching too much basketball!

Took a Spanish lesson. Juggled a spring break invasion. Went to the LYS and bought some beautiful Malabrigo yarn and a skein of Heritage for the 3 yards I need to finish my Damask shawl. Walked through Central Park. Drew at the Met. Worked on my Tapestry Cowl. Continued reading a book on the history of the spice trade.

Just got back from ladies get away. Lot of knitting as it was our knitting
group that went. Some yarn purchases at a lovely yarn shop, and yes,
the usual – wine, food and lots of laughs! Thanks for the book recommendation!!

Let’s see, I … watched 2 little girls in addition to my own (with no bloodshed), finished “Little Bee” and read Scott Brown’s memoir, ripped out the collar I’d been trying to knit on Shawn’s sweater (and now I will reblock and call in the reinforcements for help), had two wonderful friends over for dinner (and yes, there was chocolate cream pie, and it was DELICIOUS), and watched ‘The Town.’ All in all, a fantastic weekend. Oh, and to make the weekend really rock, found out that Soldier boy will be coming home for another visit this coming weekend, woot!

I did a little gardening (chronicled on my blog), a little knitting, watched Nanny McPhee Returns and Waiting for Superman on DVD, streamed the last two epis of Weeds Season Two and that’s about it.

    Happy Week!

Family bad cold, stayed in in our pjs, ate out of the freezer, started three knitting projects, didn’t like any of them, and read “Cinderella Ate My Daughter” in one sitting – it’s a great book.

Looks like a good book – will have to add it to my wish list.

We spent our weekend celebrating my daughters boyfriends 18th birthday – celebration seemed to go on for days! Visited a new yarn store in Westport (Sisters in The Wool – in case you take a ride down this way and want to check it out). Cleaned a bit but did not knit or spin at all. Overall – a real nice weekend.

Sounds like you had a fun weekend!

This weekend was spent enjoying the sun and watching the snow melt, finally finishing my Turn A Square hat, dinner with family, church, and coffee with a close friend I’d not seen in a long time. I may have also stopped by my LYS for yet another circular needle size I don’t have to get started on my Baby Chalice Blanket.

Oooo this weekend was a good one. I may even find the time to write it up. It included gardening, theatre and a bit of shopping. I feel very accomplished.

Sounds like you had a full weekend. I helped my sister move, sang in a Choral Evensong at my church, saw a falling star, watched the Red Sox lose 3 times :(, and stayed up late watching the ladies Final Four. And in between, worked on a pair of socks and a lace shawl. Phew! No wonder I was tired this morning!

I was at a professional conference in Chicago – the business & future of photography was the topic. It was excellent, in fact so good that I barely got any knitting done in meetings, I was too busy making notes or talking or waving my arms around. A little thinking outside the box is good for me once in a while.
