Ten On Tuesday

The other day we bought milk and the expiration date made me sad because it’s in November. Really? Already? I perked up, though, when I realized that means Halloween is next week and I got to thinking about trick or treating and all the fun stuff that goes along with this particular holiday. Of course the most fun thing of all is the candy and that’s why this week’s Ten on Tuesday topic is 10 Favorite Candies In Your Trick Or Treat Bag.

  1. Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Maybe it’s because the packages are orange but this is the first one of thought of.
  2. Milky Way. I love that caramel and nougat combo.
  3. Snickers. Peanuts, chocolate and more.
  4. Baby Ruth. These are probably my true favorite but they are a rare commodity when it comes to trick or treating.
  5. Tootsie Rolls. You know those big ones? Love ’em.
  6. Hershey Bar. There’s just something so wonderfully simple about a plain Hershey Bar.
  7. Almond Joy. I love coconut and almond together.
  8. M&Ms. It’s so much fun to eat these – it seems like much more than a tiny candy bar.
  9. Skittles. Again, lots of little candies make for a fun time. And the fruity flavors are yummy.
  10. 3 Musketeers. Light as air, perfect for after you’ve stuffed yourself with everything else in your bag!

I’ll be enjoying candy vicariously this year and will only indulge in one special treat. You can bet it will be a Baby Ruth!

  1. I forgot about Skittles….such a huge favorite of Ashley’s growing up. I agree it’s hard to believe that November is almost upon us!

  2. Of all the candy around M&Ms are the most addictive. It’s so easy to snarf them by the handfuls and never realize how many you’re inhaled. Peanut is my favorite of all! (And, they are GF)

  3. I was very excited to find an old favorite this year: individual microwave popcorn bags. My kids were always thrilled when they were given microwave popcorn, but the last few years WalMart hadn’t stocked it. DH advised me to buy plenty. Even if we don’t have that many knocks on the door, our grandson would love being allowed to have his own popcorn when he comes over to our house.

  4. It takes a lot of willpower to avoid the lure of the “Miniatures!” I tend to buy candies I don’t think are “worth the calories” (Skittles, for example; although my kids love ’em!). (If I buy Almond Joy, I’m a goner. . . )

  5. We have a lot of the same favorites! Yum 🙂 I try to buy candy that I really don’t like to give out for Halloween. It cuts down on the temptation if there’s any leftovers.

  6. My hands-down favorite is Reese’s. I can’t resist the temptation of chocolate and peanut butter. Next up would be snickers, for the same reason, plus you add in caramel? Winner winner. Twix, KitKats, $100,000 Grand, and Almond Joy all make my list as well. Any wonder why I bought Dum-Dums this year to hand out?? No temptation there, heh!

  7. Wow, we all love Reese’s! When my daughter was trick or treating, she always gave them to me from what she collected. Those were the days when she didn’t eat nuts. Ah, those days are gone.

  8. Hmmm, nine of your ten choices are chocolate…. The kids in our neighborhood love those gummy eyeball and forefinger shapes. There never are any leftover for me (so I have to eat some before the kids turn up!)

  9. I loved Milky Way for years. Sadly they are not GF. Now I look longly at my daughter’s stash hoping for an old fashioned Hersey Bar. And then there’s a Pay Day!
