Ten On Tuesday

March 5, 2013 By Carole

In the past I have struggled with the month of March. It’s long and there aren’t any work holidays. I want it to be spring but it still (mostly) isn’t. However, a couple of years ago Margene challenged me to find the good in March and I’ve been seeking it ever since. After last week’s Ten on Tuesday where I talked about how tired I am of winter I thought this week should be a return to the positive and so today we have: 10 Reasons I’m Happy It’s March.

  1. Spring officially arrives this month. Even if the temps are cold it’s spring, people. Spring.
  2. Warmer days become more regular. By warmer I’m talking in the 40s but that still feels great to me.
  3. The birthdays of several of my most favorite people are this month. You all know who you are.
  4. The song birds start coming back and the goldfinches start turning yellow again.
  5. St. Patrick’s Day. Our friends have a big party and even if we don’t get a day off from work for it at least it’s a special occasion.
  6. Opening the windows. At some point this month I should be able to open the windows and air out the house for an afternoon or two. I get really excited the first time I can throw open the windows.
  7. Easter. Again, no work holiday but it’s an occasion to gather the family together and that is always something to be happy about.
  8. Running outside again. I did this on Saturday and it’s definitely harder for me than running on the treadmill. It’s good to be challenged, though.
  9. The flowers start growing. I’m ready for crocus, snowdrops and daffodil shoots.
  10. And finally, the thing I’ve really been wanting to say: We are going to Mexico next month. woot!
And there you have it, 10 reasons to enjoy the month of March. I think Margene is going to be impressed. If you’re playing along be sure to click the “add your link” button below. And if you want to subscribe to Ten on Tuesday emails, click here.

Yes! March = Spring. Even if the weather doesn’t always cooperate.

March is variable, but she’s just trying to keep it interesting! I love the renewal, the surprises and the smiles March brings. It’s spring and we ALL want a little sun after the cold, dark winter. Bring it on March. Good work, Carole! You’re getting the hang of this March thing.

I’ve always loved the “In like a lion, out like a lamb” analogy for March , the peeking crocus, forsythia blooming, the fresh clean scent of the coming Spring … and hey, it being my birthday month doesn’t stink 😉

I’m just looking forward to spring cleaning more than I have in any year past. Our place looks like tornadoes mated and then spawned in several rooms.

Nice! A vacation! Doug’s got a March birthday so I like that and there are always one or two nice days that give us hope!

Yup, all of the above. Plus we do Passover, too, so it’s going to be busy.

A trip would be enough to get me through the worst month
of the year for me when I lived there. I totally get it but thinking positive thoughts, getting ready for the trip and knowing that
March will eventually be OVER should help! And keep the
    flowers around!

You rocked finding the good in March. My faborite is the one or two unseasonably warm days that clearly let us know there will be a spring and summer! Makes the blood flow happily.

I wish we had songbirds in this area. It’s just the robin, blue jay, brown swallow around here. With the occasional mockingbird.

Open windows – Yes! I can’t wait. And flowers and birds and warm weather with no coats. Yes to it all!

And yes to Mexico! No vacation for me quite yet.

I love the little bits of green I see here and there. AND I spotted a red wing black bird on Sunday. I’m with you on the opening windows season! I am ready to boot out this stale air. Come on, Spring!

I can’t wait to open all the windows, too! I think it may happen this weekend!

And after this weekend, we will have an extra hour of daylight in the evening — never mind that we lose an hour of sleep on Saturday night.

woot! for mexico and for running outside. (I just typed a long comment about the joys of running outside and deleted it – because you already know my thoughts on that topic and it’s on your list so of course you agree). and for a new season that’s warm… bring it on!
