Ten On Tuesday

It’s hot. And, while I much prefer hot to cold, it’s still nice to think of ways to stay cool when it’s this hot. Therefore, today’s Ten On Tuesday topic is 10 Ways to Beat the Heat. Let’s chill!

after feb 1 snowstorm for carole knits

  1. Find a friend with a lake house.
  2. Or a beach house.
  3. Or a pool. Convince them to let you visit and stay until the weather is comfortable again.
  4. Turn up the air conditioning and stay indoors.
  5. Sit quietly and knit.
  6. Or read.
  7. Eat cool foods like salads.
  8. And ice cream.
  9. Drink cool drinks like beer, iced coffee and iced tea.
  10. Remember that it will get cold again and you won’t be happy about that. At all.

I hope you’re feeling cooler! If you wrote a post for today please add your link below. If you’d like to subscribe to the Ten On Tuesday weekly email, please click here.

  1. I’m a bigger fan of cooler weather…I figure you can always add another layer and then there is cozy wool. But I think I’m more a fan of November than February. But, it’s true. Life is much more simple when all you have to do is throw on a pair of flip flops, a t-shirt, and some shorts to go out of the house. But then there is all that winter cooking, slow braises and stews…I guess I’m just glad it changes….eventually.

  2. I’m enjoying soaking up the summer sun! Sure . . . it’s hot. But, oh well. Summer life just feels easier somehow!

  3. While I am not a fan of 95+ degree temps with ghastly humidity, I am not ready for anything like your photo!! However, this was a good reminder to be careful what you wish for! I am not wishing for cold weather AT ALL! LOL

  4. I’m so longing for Fall (NOT Winter…Fall). yesterday when I left work my glasses fogged up as soon as I exited the air conditioned building. I hate that. Beating the heat – here are my ways:
    1. Go swimming (I really, really miss this – no good pools nearby)
    2. Eat watermelon and other fresh fruit
    3. Chew on raw veggies – celery really quenches my thirst – I always take celery sticks and carrot sticks to the beach.
    4. Take advantage of the cooler mornings (difficult to do when the heat is already on when you rise though).
    5. Have a frozen drink, or water ice, or ice cream.
    6. Drink a ton of water.
    7. Take a nap.
    8. Have some iced coffee or tea.
    9. Salads for dinner, yogurt for breakfast.
    10. Accept every dinner invitation so you don’t have to cook…just bring wine – lol.

  5. I prefer “just right” temps…say 75 degrees, no humidity…the photo of the opposite to today’s record heat temps, tho’ is lovely!

    Stay cool!

    Cheers~

  6. OMG ….the humidity here has been brutal.

Thank goodness for A/C, a really good fan and bucket loads of iced tea!

  7. We don’t have humidity to contend with, but it is 102 here today. I’m a big fan of summer and I would much rather have this than snow and cold!

  8. A timely prompt, for sure, Carole! And your picture paired with your list is just perfect! Indeed, it won’t be long till we’ll be yearning for heat waves over snow days!

  9. ahhh, #10 made me laugh out loud – so true!! and what a great photo; it’s hard to remember that kind of cold when it’s so hot outside, but the photo does help bring it all back, doesn’t it?!?
