Weekending

I don’t have a lot of photos from the weekend. In fact, there are only three.

This one of carrot fries. They were great and the recipe is here.

This one of the puzzle we finished Saturday morning. The upper third was tricky, the sky and trees are all very similar. Finishing was sweet.

And this one of the sushi we had on Saturday night. It was delicious.

There were things I did that I did not photograph, though.

I spent Friday afternoon with Jackie. That little bugger is so much fun these days.

We went to see Green Book and Vice. Both are terrific in very different ways.

I finished Dumplin and started Improvement.

I knit my new Stopover sweater

I journaled and thought deep thoughts.

We watched It Happened One Night for our January classic movie night. Now there’s a film that has stood the test of time, it’s fantastic.

How was your weekend? I hope it was everything you wanted it to be.

  1. I have a love-hate relationship with puzzles. Initially they’re fun, but when faced with too many pieces of similar colors, I wonder where the fun went. But carrot fries and sushi sound great! I hope your week is as nice as your weekend.

  2. Our weekend was One of those winter weekends that wasn’t awful but leaves me yearning for Spring. Kind of appropriate for the lead up to Monday I guess.

  3. It looks like you had a good weekend – sometimes not marking each thing with images tells more of a story! This week I am hoping that most of us in the arctic blast path stay safe and warm!

  4. Those carrots look delicious and the puzzle looks like fun! Glad you had such a nice weekend. Get ready for the arctic blast!!!

  5. Carrot fries! What a brilliant idea! I’ll have to try that to see if it works to get my kid to eat more vegetables.

We have begun a tradition of doing a big jigsaw puzzle when we go to Florida for the holidays every December, and we always have fun. I’d love to do one at home, but I find that they’re a big time suck because I get so engrossed in trying to find just one more piece that fits!

  6. Sometimes I like doing puzzles. But I have to be in just the right mood! The biggest triumph of my weekend was getting my “sewing room” cleaned up. That’s been on my list for a very, very long time. . .

  7. Three pretty sweet pictures there Carole! I love a puzzle too but really don’t have anywhere to set it up so it just doesn’t happen. We saw Bohemian Rhapsody over the weekend and thought it was great! I’d really like to get to see both that you saw.

  8. Looks like a pretty great weekend, Carole! We’ve been making pan-roasted carrots with just the littlest bit of a honey glaze… carrots are so yummy!!

  9. Carrots are my favorite vegetable, and how well you know your readers, thanks for the link! I love puzzles, but I like doing them with other people more than alone. Currently there is no one who likes to do them with me. This past weekend, I cleaned out closets, on my birthday! But when you have wind in your sails, you have to seize the moment. I hope your week is good, and that you and yours stay safe and warm.

  10. I love the puzzle! I have one set up and work on it here and there. They’re fun and rewarding. I love It Happened One Night! It’s my favorite! Your snacks look SO good and your weekend sounds fab.

  11. Thank you for the carrot fries recipe – that looks right up my alley! Glad you finished that puzzle … do you keep one going all the time? my mom has a special table with a spinning board. it’s a sweet setup!

  12. Carrot fries-now those sound very interesting. I’m happy I was able to do a lot of walking this weekend. This time of year you have to grab those nice days when you can!

  13. Carrot fries might have to be added to our Super Bowl menu.
I’m also doing Smitten Kitchen baked buffalo wings, Martha Stewart’s mac & cheese, a big salad and peach cobbler (for Atlanta).
