Or perhaps I should call this post Looking for Blog Fodder. I seem to have…
Just Enough Fun
Sorry about being absent yesterday. I don’t get these type of headaches very often but when I do it tends to flatten me a bit. But watch out now because I’m back. And I did have a fun weekend.
Friday night we went to a local baseball game. I’ve written about these before and there’s not much new to say except that knitting, beer and baseball make for a great combination.
It’s pretty rare for us to have a commitment-free Saturday but this was one of them and it was so nice to just let the day unfold. Dale was puttering around doing home improvement type stuff and I spent most of the day hanging around on the deck.
I did some spinning. With breaks for reading Harry Potter, of course.
Later in the day we had snacks and martinis.
Accompanied by a beautiful evening sky.
We ended the night with a fire in the chiminea and dinner alfresco.
Sunday brought more fun. I managed to keep the headache at bay, thank goodness, as we had Brant, Heather & Ambrynn over to celebrate Brant’s birthday. This was also a farewell dinner of sorts as they are leaving for Florida this Sunday.
So we set up a fly and had steak and baked potatoes and corn. And blueberry cake. Mmm. Of course, Ambrynn is always the star of the day around here and she had a wonderful time playing a bean bag game with her Grandpa.
Too much fun? Perhaps. But then again, you can never have too much fun.

I’m glad you’re feeling better. I can see why you ended up with a migraine. You had too much fun and a bit of stress mixed in. Sorry the day is coming so quickly. Have you booked a trip to visit them in FL? Ambrynn would love for you and Dale to take her to Disney World.
glad the headache is going away. Sure does look like a nice weekend! That little darlin’ is just too cute! Throw it leftie style little lady!
It looks like a heavenly weekend. Headaches don’t need a reason…they just come. Glad you feel much better. I think I could live on your deck! 😉
Glad you are feeling better! Boy, you guys have some fantastic weekends!
Looks like the perfect amount of fun.
It sounds/looks like a terrific weekend! Very sorry about the headache!
The snacking on the deck with a fire looks nice! I am glad you are feeling better! I struggle with those same headaches now and then….no fun when they happen 🙁
How are you liking the new Harry Potter so far? I haven’t even bought it yet! I still want to reread all of the others before I start this new one, but I have no idea when I’ll find the time for that.
What a fun filled weekend!! Glad your headache is gone!!
So glad your better. What a wonderful weekend. Who doesn’t love a good beanbag game?
That was a nice weekend! I’m glad you’re feeling better and I’m sorry your family is leaving soon.
Glad to hear your headache is better! Sounds like you had an awesome and relaxing weekend. The best kind…
There is no such thing as too much fun. Or too many martinis.
What a beautiful sky! Glad you had some loving family time before the departure… thinking of you, hon.
I’m glad you finally escaped the migraine’s evil clutches! Looks like an otherwise lovely weekend.
happy to hear that you were able to keep the headache at bay long enough to enjoy the weeekend. The weekend sounds lovely.
Sounds like a lovely weekend! I’m glad you got rid of your migraine. Can’t wait to see a close-up of the spinning!
What a relaxing weekend. Sorry to hear about the headache. Like you, I don’t get migraines often, but when I do, they are truly miserable. Glad you are feeling better!
what a great weekend. Al and I went to the Rox sunday nite!
Ugh..headaches. I had a migraine only once in my life and that was when I was pregnant. Holy cow…that was terrible, I don’t know how some people live with it?!
That weekend looks like it was fun! Did I tell you I’ve never had a martini either? All these alcoholic beverages I’m missing out on!
I’m so glad you’re feeling better. I love minor-league baseball — all the seats are good and available for something less than highway robbery. I got to go to a game a couple of weeks ago.
If they have to go, at least you sent them off in style.
Glad to hear you are feeling better! And it’s never TOO much fun.
Glad to see you’re feeling better. It looks like you had a great weekend. I just had to laugh at the bean bag game. The official name is Cornhole. I kid you not. It is uber-popular in Cincinnati, its birthplace. I always think it’s so funny to see it called something other than Cornhole.
Sounds like a lovely weekend, I’m glad you were able to keep the headache at bay. 🙂
That really sounds like a pretty perfect weekend.
Are they leaving for FL so soon? Wow, times flew by really quickly.
What a perfect weekend for you! Your Saturday snacks and martini’s look yummy.
Ambrynn is so adorable!
Sounds like a wonderful weekend and I’m so glad you’re feeling better today. No such thing as too much fun… unless there’s a need for bail money, of course. ;^)
Oh can I sympathize with the headache!
Glad it went away and you had a great weekend!
(((hugs)))
Poor Carole! Was it too much Potter all at one go? 😉
Anyway, I’m glad you’re back on your feet. Being sick sucks.
Glad to see you’ve recovered! :o)
Hi Carole!
Totally off-topic, but ages ago I won some purple laceweight merino from you – I’ve finally finished the shawl – I’ve got pics up on my blog.
Thank you so much – I’ve had a lot of fun knitting it.
It all sounds wonderful! I’m glad to hear that your headache is gone. I know how bad a migraine can be.
Glad you are feeling better and had a good dinner with the family. Sunday?!?!? UGHHHHH
What a perfect day!
glad to see the headache has left you in peace! sounds like your weekend was wonderful and relaxing and even better, full of people you loved — lucky you!
I’m so glad that the weekend was so great for you, but my heart broke for you when you mentioned Sunday. My thoughts are with you!
Migraines are so awful! I had terrible ones as a teenager and in college. They stopped when I stopped eating dairy, although that could be coincidence and I might have just outgrown them.
Your baseball pic reminded me of going to Cape Cod Baseball League games as a kid. I lived down the street from the Hyannis Mets’ field and we’d go to all the home games. As a kid growing up in the 80s (particularly in ’86), it was hard to understand that I like BOTH the Red Sox and the Mets. Ah, well…
