I know, because of the comments from last week, that many of you enjoy reading…
Ten On Tuesday
In the midst of winter a grrl needs as much help as possible to make herself not only look good but feel good, too. Hence the inspiration for this week’s Ten on Tuesday theme: 10 Favorite Health and Beauty Products.
- Blessed Juno Soap. I absolutely love this soap made by my friend Laurie. My favorite is New Day but all of her soaps are wonderful. The last time I visited Margene I bought so much that my suitcase was over the weight limit when I got to the airport!
- Woolen Rabbit Hand Cream. Kim’s hand cream is thick and luscious and smells of lavender. I keep it right next to my spot on the couch.
- Make Up For Ever Glitters. The perfect glittery eye make up for places like Las Vegas and nights like New Year’s Eve.
- Arbonne Pampermint Foot Cream. I don’t think they make this anymore but I have a tub of it and I slather it on my heels every night. It really helps with the drying and cracking that comes from going barefoot so much.
- Opi Nail Polish. If your toes are going to be bare they ought to be pretty, too. I treat myself to a mani/pedi every two weeks year round. Yes, I walk out of the nail salon in flip flops in the dead of winter. The things I do for beauty. Sheesh.
- Shaper Hairspray. I swear by this stuff. They changed the formula a year ago and I had a fit. Luckily they still have the older spray available, too.
- Blistex. I started using this when I was a little girl because it was what my grandfather used and I’ve been hooked on it’s menthol soothing nature ever since. I have a tube in my purse, a tube by the couch, a tube by my bed, and a tube at my desk at work. I take my lip ointment very seriously.
- Clinique 3 Step Regimen. Another tried and true method for me – I’ve been using Clinique since my freshman college roommate introduced me to it. I’ve tried different products over the years but always end up going back to this stuff because it works.
- Sephora Collection Dry Oil Apple Pomegranate. Hannah got me this for Christmas and I love it. You spray it on after your shower but before you towel yourself dry. I smell a little like a Yankee Candle but it has definitely helped with dry skin this winter.
- Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion. It’s unscented and really works and I use it copious amounts.
Those are my must haves. I think it’s a nice mix of artisan and mass produced products. How about you? What beauty products do you use regularly?

Was wondering how to approach this. You took it and made it not TMI 🙂
Great list. I’m cheap, and I also really dislike a lot of fragrances in commercial products. I love anything Aveda, but don’t buy it often due to the aforementioned cheap issue. I tend to stick with super plain, unscented items for things like body lotion. I do love the Whole Foods 365 brand body lotion and shampoo – both the citrus and herbal versions are natural and lovely. For makeup I go with Almay or Neutrogena – no scent. If I need a little moisturizer on my face (only on the coldest, dryest of January days) I use a tiny bit of Cera Ve. Boring, yet effective!
I do love blistex, and aveeno face moisturizer with spf 15 as well as their body lotion.
One thing I use that is slightly different is olive oil. I spray it on my arms and legs in the shower to help with my very dry skin. Same idea as the dry oil.
Beauty and health? I love my asthma medication; it’s made a huge difference in how I live my life. Without my good tweezers and my incredible, pore illuminating mirror (which we have dubbed the “ugly mirror”) there would be no “beauty.”
Your #1 & #2, plus Vaseline is all I need!
Some new things for me to try!
Like you, I’m a Clinique gal, then Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream, Enchanted Forest Lavender (or Lavender Lemongrass, or Lavender Oatmeal) soaps, and then my neice’s homemade Lavender Sugar Scrub on the rough spots! OH..and Lavender Zum Rub – the last two take care of my feet without having to wear flip flops in the winter!
BRRRrrrrr….
I completely forgot about Aveeno. My tattoo artist suggested Aveeno as the best thing to put on a healing tattoo, which was great until my husband got the menthol one. Eeeooouuch! I was too frugal to go out and buy the plain one.
I had a chuckle over all the spots where you keep your Blixtex. I like plain ol’ ChapStick Classic, and keep it in all of the same places + there’s one in my car.
I love my Arbonne facial cleanser & Arbonne body wash. Avon eyeliner/eye shadow pencil. Arbonne vit C oil … use it on my heels, but I’m running out & it’s e.x.p.e.n.s.i.v.e. I may have some of the peppermint foot stuff, gotta look for that! I don’t think I could make a list of 10 if my life depended on it, LOL!!
yup, OPI nail polish when I get my mani-pedi and of course Lindsey and I wear our flip flops. You don’t want to screw up your nails too fast.
The dry oil sounds like something to check out.
There are only a few things I can’t live without.
Most importantly, eyeshadow primer. I use the one from Bare Minerals, but I also like the Urban Decay primer. Since I started using it a year ago I’ve not once had to touch up my eyeshadow during the day. Even when I go out dancing and get all kinds of sweaty, my makeup is still perfectly in place.
The second is dry shampoo. I use a powder version by Oscar Blandi and I love it. It’s a little pricey ($24 for a medium size bottle) but it lasts for months and months. I wet my hair once every 10-15 days, but no one believes me when I tell them that. I usually use the dry shampoo every day, but since the weather’s been so cold and dry I’ve been using it every 2-3 days.
That dry oil sounds very interesting! I love OPI too, though I haven’t been finding the necessary time to paint my nails lately 🙁 It’s on the list for this week though. Some pampering is in order! Thanks for a great topic, it was indeed great timing!
Good list… I just posted mine -happy tot!
OPI is great! /wanders off to put some color on her toes…
Great list – I posted mine, too…
Great idea – I always like hearing about what products others prefer and use. There’s so much out there to choose from it helps to have other’s opinions. I use sunscreen for my face. Neutrogena Age Shield Face SPF 110. I use it on my face every day. Body Lotion – St Ives Collagen Elastin- inexpensive and good -it helps the winter dry skin. Hand Lotion – the Gold Bond Ultimates are my favorite drug store brand. And I adore scented soap – I try all sorts.
Green Science Skin care products by Aveda – the whole line 😉
Catching up on reading past posts. I use Body Shop Peppermint Foot cream. I tried all the others I could find and always go back to this one.
