Another Artist in the Family
You’ll have to excuse me today because I’m about to brag. It’s a nana’s prerogative, I do believe.
Our very talented granddaughter, Ambrynn, who is now almost 10 (10!!), earned a 3rd place finish in the Federal Junior Duck Stamp Contest in Florida. This is her first year in the 4th-6th grade group and there were 941 entries total and her Blue Winged Teal won, yes, I’m going to say it again, 3rd place.
Wanna see it?
The photos are courtesy of her mom, Heather, and I’m so glad to be able to share them with you.
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that last year Ambrynn received an honorable mention for her Golden Eye and two years ago she won 1st place in her age group for her Drake Redhead. As a matter of fact, she has earned recognition for every entry she has submitted since she was 5 years old. Impressive, yes?
The Julius family has a long standing history with the Massachusetts Duck Stamp program. Dale’s brother Randy has won it 7Â times, making him the winning-est artist in that competition and Dale’s brother Barry has also won the State Duck Stamp as well as the Primitive and Archery stamps a few years ago, for a total of 13 times between them when you include all of the various competitions. Their artwork graces the walls of our living room, as you can see in the photo from this post.
It’s wonderful and amazing for us to see Ambrynn following in the footsteps of her great uncles. She is a smart, thoughtful, little girl; an accomplished dancer and artist with incredibly supportive and awesome parents. We know she has a bright and beautiful future ahead of her. Frankly, we can’t wait to see what she does next!

Oh, Carole! This is SO awesome! (And I can’t believe she’s 10 already . . .)
Wow, she does lovely work! Congratulations to Ambrynn!
Perogative? It is in the job description! And with excellent reason I believe in this case. Well done, Ambrynn!
Such talent for a ten year old!
Impressive, YES! Congratulations, Ambrynn!!
Wow! She has some talent. That is amazing. And oh my gosh she has grown!

young girl and a bright future ahead of her with her talents!!
Wow! Congratulations Ambrynn! And Duck Stamp Program…who knew. Lots to learn about that today! 😉
What a remarkable young lady. Brag away.
That is super! What talent!
Gramma has to brag. It’s in the Gramma bylaws! 😉
Talent and accomplishment, for sure… but I can’t get over how much she’s grown! I know she’s about the same age as Mack, and certainly he’s grown, but still… I see him all the time and it’s not such a shock to my system. 😉
Congratulations Ambrynn! The duck stamps are my favorites! I will watch for your’s!
Beautiful artwork and a beautiful young woman! How nice that she shares a talent with others in your family. We have a collection of duck stamps in our home too. And Nana’s, Grammas, Grammies, whatever they are called, have to brag. It is right there in the grandmother rulebook!
Congratulations to Ambrynn for carrying on the family Duck Stamp dynasty!
It’s a beautiful drawing. Congratulations to Ambrynn! If I was even remotely related to her I would brag too. I, too, am interested in what she does next. Keep us posted. Sue
Her artwork is amazing. I’ve seen entries from this competition at the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson, Wyo (including many winners) and your granddaughter’s are the best!
It’s the start of a dynasty! Good going, Ambrynn!
