Distracted by Technology

My plan for today was to share my finished True Colors with you. But you know what they say about plans, right?

Yeah. I didn’t get the photos done. It’s partly because I forgot to take then over the weekend. It’s partly because I had a meeting last night. But it’s mostly because this:

I ordered an iPhone X on Sunday and it arrived yesterday afternoon. Setting it up was relatively easy – you literally place your old phone and new phone side by side and they somehow talk to each other but then I hit a snag. I had an old Apple ID that had been disabled  and it was holding up all of my apps. I spent some time on the phone with Apple support (they were awesome) and got that old ID updated and reinstated and shortly afterwards all of my apps were on the phone.

But.

Even though the apps downloaded to my phone and some of them downloaded with my login info intact, many didn’t. That meant I spent the better part of my free time last evening looking up passwords and getting all of the apps in working order.

And that’s why there’s no knitting today. There is a shiny new iPhone, though, and I hear it takes great photos.

Hopefully I’ll be sharing those with you very soon.

  1. ooohhh, fun! (well, now that the new phone is all setup – I’m sure that part wasn’t fun!) Look forward to seeing photos and hearing more about the new features!

  2. I look forward to your reviews on this device. Glad your migration went fairly well. There’s always that moment after you commit by pushing the button that feels a bit like when you jump off the diving board and then wonder how cold the water in the pool is on the way down.

  3. Congrats to you! I have mine for several weeks now and my verdict is that I really love it! Face ID has its moments, but mostly I think this is muscle memory from years of thumb id. The camera is amazing – in fact, this was the only camera I took on our trip to MI – add to that it’s incredible speed and I’d say that this is a great update from Apple. I hope you like your new phone as much as I do mine! XO

  4. Oooh, fun. There’s always a price to pay, no?? (I’ve been using Lastpass, a password manager, for over a year and I love it.)

  5. Ooh, fancy! I hope to see some great photos soon. I need a new phone, and although it will probably be an Android, I’m going to make a choice based on camera quality.

  6. Snags like that are why I keep my old technology for as long as possible. Then I hand it to Apple and say YOU do it. (They usually do.):) That phone looks magical!
