Last Friday I had my annual mammogram. And last night I got the results that…
Joyful Wednesday
It’s been a week, friends, and joy has been somewhat elusive. And yet, I know how important it is that I find it. And in considering that, I realized it’s right at my kitchen table every morning in the form of my gratitude journal.
Every morning, while my coffee brews, I sit and make a list of 5 things I am grateful for and I write them in this book. I have done this for 787 consecutive days now. Sometimes the lists are quick and easy, sometimes they are longer and more profound, but there is always a list.
And writing that list every day reminds me to be grateful and it’s just a quick hop from grateful to joy.

I love this practice and there is definitely joy in that jar of colorful pens.
A quiet ritual is the best way to start the day! That is a very impressive string of days, Carole!
That’s a long string of gratitude! I’m glad you’ve found this wonderful way to start your day and find joy.
Wow, that’s quite the streak of writing! It’s definitely good to focus on the good rather than the bad, as hard as that can be sometimes (especially now). That sounds like a great way to focus on the good at the start of each day.
I love that you have this practice and am especially impressed that it’s something you can do before you have your coffee!
what a lovely way to wait for your coffee to brew! and wow, 5 things adds up to almost 4,000 things over that string of days. 4,000!!!! sending good juju that the end of the week goes better.
I have been having that kind of week as well, Carole. Your habit is a fabulous one, and I need to do something like that in the AM as well. I have just started the Healthy Minds program, and that will include lots of positive things, I think. You seem to have developed a lot of very positive habits, and I admire that. Sometimes we have to look for joy, but it’s always there somewhere.
787 days…that is amazing!!
I do this with my partner… every night… even if some nights his just reads M, home, sleep, air, bed….we’ve got over 8,030 + however many days 2021 has given us in notebooks on a shelf…..
