I didn't mean to be AWOL yesterday, it was just one of those things, you…
Niagara Falls Butterfly Conservatory
There was one other thing we did while in Niagara Falls that I need to share with you before we move on to women’s history and wine country . . . the Butterfly Conservatory.
We went on Sunday afternoon almost as soon as we arrived in Canada. It was a great opportunity to stretch our legs after being in the car for several hours. And it was warm and tropical and beautiful.
We saw so many butterflies! Having never been to a place like this I wasn’t sure what to expect but it did not disappoint. Butterflies were literally everywhere. They landed on me. They landed on Dale. They feasted on cut up oranges and flowers.
I’m really glad we went.

What a wonderful place! It would be so nice to see all those butterflies in those gorgeous colors, especially on a day when it was chilly outside. I really love that blue one!
I absolutely love butterfly conservatories! (I think the best times I have ever visited was when I took my kids when they were young!) What a fun and magical way to start your vacation!!
That sounds like a wonderful experience at any time, but it sounds like it was especially wonderful after being in a car for a long time.
What a treat! I’ve been to a few butterfly conservatories over the years, and the Meijer Gardens in GR has a special, months-long butterfly exhibit/extravaganza. Seeing all those butterflies is just magical! I’m so glad you and Dale stretched your legs in such a special place!
Butterfly conservatories are just so magical and beautiful. Glad you and Dale decided to visit the one in Niagara. Wonderful!!
I’m so glad you went! I have such great memories of being there with the kids when they were little, and how magical it was when a butterfly landed on them and stayed for a spell. The warmth and humidity is at an enjoyable level, even in the middle of the summertime, and the air smells different in there. What a great start to your Canadian adventure!
We stretched our legs almost first thing, too, but it was so chilly! (Thank goodness for sunshine.)
I remember taking Jun & Gin to a butterfly garden in Milwaukee several years ago — it was amazing!! Must do that (or something similar) again someday.
That sounds like fun! Year ago I went to the butterfly place in MA by Yankee Candle. It was fun watching them fly around and land on everyone. My sister recently went with my niece and the little great nieces. The 6 year old loved it, the 3 year old had to leave.
I went to CA for my high school graduation and went to the falls, it’s a fun place to visit.
There’s a beautiful Butterfly House in St Louis, connected to the Missouri Botanical Gardens. We take mom-in-law there when we visit; she loves it. We had a private tour for her 90th birthday, so special.
Glad you’re having a grand trip!
