I didn't mean to be AWOL yesterday, it was just one of those things, you…
Vacation Glimmers, Pinewood Lodge 2024
I am back from the longest camping trip Dale and I have gone on with just the two of us. 8 nights at Pinewood Lodge in Plymouth. It’s only about 30 minutes from home but the distance isn’t what’s important, it’s simply getting away. Seriously, there’s something freeing about paring down to just what we need and consolidating our lives into a small camper that not only feels freeing but also makes us appreciate the space we have at home.
I did not take a lot of photos and I’m not sure whether that’s the sign of a truly relaxing vacation or a truly lazy blogger but either way, there’s just a handful to share with you.
Here’s Dale, posing by the campground sign at the lodge. It’s really just a store at this point, but back in the day they hosted parties and weddings and events in this building.
I made a potholder. Camping and crafting go hand in hand.
We had several camp fires. I really love the fire pits at this campground as they are large and all different and made with natural rocks. Most campgrounds we go to these days have tire rings and those really don’t give the same vibe.
The biggest news for this trip is that we brought Fred & George with us. That’s right, we now have Camping Kitties. They adjusted pretty well although the meowing was intense the first few nights. When I tell you that these two, who I previously would have labeled the quietest cats I’ve ever had, I must also tell you that they meowed more last week than they have in their entire lives so far. But it was worth it to have them with us and not be feeling anxious about leaving them home.
And that’s my camping vacation in a nutshell.

I don’t think I’d be brave enough to take cats camping (though we’ve seen cats at numerous campgrounds). Glad you had such a good, relaxing time – your campfire looks so good!! Welcome back!
Camping kitties, I can imagine the meowing. You obviously did not understand the emergency of not sleeping in their real house. Sounds like it was really relaxing which is just what one needs to soak in late summer.
Taking F&G camping sounds like fun and I do like that potholder!
What a delightful week, Carole! I am here cheering that you brought sweet Fred and George with you! I am laughing (thank you so much for that!!) at the idea of their Meow-athon all week. That just puts a huge smile on my face! XO
Welcome home! You were missed. 🙂
Sounds wonderful! You are brave to take your cats camping.
Sounds like a nice, relaxing vacation. Love the potholder!
I love the idea of camping kitties! I hope they got used to the idea so you can take them along the next time, because being away from home but still being with your pets sounds like a pretty ideal vacation!
Oh wow, camping kitties!! Glad they quieted down… a little. I bet they’ll be better next time. I love those fire pits, too! So much more interesting than a ring.
it sounds perfect, Carole … and taking Fred & George really does sound like “home away from home” (which I think is also “perfect”)
