August Camping Recap

Hello and Happy Monday! I’m home after a fun week of camping with the fam and I have a smattering of photos to share with you.

First, our campsite at night. The tent is Hannah’s. Those owl lights were given to us by a friend who no longer camped and that was at least 20 years ago. They bring back memories of so many camping trips and are a staple of our set up.

Fred and George were with us again and they settled into the routine pretty readily this time. I do wonder what they think of the whole thing. Why do we do this and where are we and why are these other people we know also here? They definitely enjoy looking out the windows at all of the birds.

The weather was pretty decent with only one day of rain but it was also chilly at the beginning of the week. It was refreshing but meant we only had 2 real beach days. We made the most of those days, though.

Dale enjoyed some snorkeling.

Hannah and Jess rented a paddle boat and had fun making their way around the pond.

And I was happy to sit in the sun and read.

We had campfires, although I have no photos of them. We had delicious food: hamburgers and corn on the cob, blueberry pancakes and bacon, lots of cheese and crackers, steak tips and grilled chicken, and we even had pizza delivered one night. We were most definitely not roughing it!

I know Dale took more photos than I did so I will hopefully have more to share with you later this week. Have a great day!

  1. I might be able to get onboard with this kind of camping. It looks like a grand time. May re-entry be kind to you.

  2. I’m with Robby; this sounds like camping I might enjoy. Camping when I was young included leaky tents, sleeping on the ground, and food that was either burnt in the fire or raw. Your way is better!

  3. Where did you go camping? It looks fun and relaxing. Audrey and Tyler go camping several times all summer long. It is a nice way to rest and unwind.

  4. All of it looks so relaxing and fun. BTW, I love your hat. Been looking for one for my long walks. Have a good Monday!

  5. Such a fabulous camping week! Makes me sorry our camping days are over. May reality not bite you too hard as you ease back in to life at home…and work…

  6. I’ve never really been interested in camping, but the way you do it makes it sound like a lot of fun! I hope it was rejuvenating and your reentry isn’t too rough.
