Or perhaps I should call this post Looking for Blog Fodder. I seem to have…
Weekending
You would think that a person who has been blogging for 20 years would remember that blog posts need photos. Particularly blog posts that talk about weekend activities. Sure, you would think that. But you’d be wrong. Heh.
Here’s the one photo I took all weekend:

It captures a delicious meal of chicken noodle soup and sourdough bread, all made by me. But it’s not terribly exciting. And it doesn’t capture the other things I did like . . .
Bake brownies from scratch. So much worth the little extra effort.
Watch 6 (yes SIX) Oscar nominated Best Picture movies. A Complete Unknown at the theater on Friday afternoon. Anora on Friday evening. The Substance on Saturday morning. Nickel Boys on Saturday night. Emilia Perez on Sunday afternoon. And The Brutalist on Sunday evening. That’s a LOT of movies to consume and my head is sort of swimming as a result.
For those keeping track, there are two BP nominees we haven’t see: I’m Still Here and Dune Part 2. We may still watch Dune but I’m Still Here is out since it’s only in theaters and it’s not showing close enough to us for it to be feasible. I’d also really like to see Sing Sing and The Apprentice but I have meetings every night this week so I’m not sure any of that is possible.
I also managed to spend some time journaling, reading, and knitting. I even had a few fleeting moments on Sunday where I felt particularly happy. Like, more than my typical feeling of contentment (that’s sort of my baseline mood) and actual optimism. Maybe it’s the extra daylight and slightly warmer temperatures. Maybe it’s a fluke. But I am really grateful for those moments.
How was your weekend?
Woah! That’s a lot of movies! Whew!! I am glad that you found a bit of happiness over the weekend! And I hope it is contagious… we could use a bit of a happiness spreading across the land! Happy Monday and may your meetings this week be easy!
Wow! That’s a lot of movies. I watched 3 hours of TV last night (the first two episodes of The Americas and then the season finale of All Creatures) and that was really too much for me. I’m hoping there is nothing on TV tonight that Fletch feels we should watch together – LOL. Glad you found some happiness over the weekend and hopefully that will continue on into the week. Thank God for milder temps!
Nice work Carole! I’ve only seen Emilia Perez and Conclave. Liked them both!
Like everyone else I have to say it; that is a lot of movies! But inquiring minds want to know – did you like any of them? Today is dawning bright, sunny, and warmer, so I’m a bit happier already!
Wow! My head would be spinning, too. At some point, I hope you rate these movies for us. It sounds like you had a busy, goal-directed weekend. I hope you have a lot of those particularly happy moments this week, Carole.
I’m impressed by how many of the movies you’ve seen! I’ve seen none of them, and to be honest, I’m not sure how many of them I want to see. I did read the description of The Substance and know I definitely do not want to see it (too gory for me).
