It's a day that only comes 4 times a year, friends, the day that Bonny…
Read With Us: The Nesting Promo Post
It’s my turn to step up to the plate and convince you to read the book Nesting by Roisín O’Donnell. I feel like all I need to say it just do it. And be prepared to read it from start to finish in one sitting. But, if you need more convincing, read on.
(trigger warning: domestic abuse)
This book is so many things. It’s an exploration of the way verbal and emotional abuse can slowly erode a person’s identity and sense of self. It’s about the immense courage it takes to escape when you can’t even verbalize what it is you’re escaping from. It’s about navigating a broken system that fails to recognize the importance of dignity and control. It’s about the small acts of courage that build up over time. It’s about reclaiming your voice when it feels like it’s been silenced for too long. It’s a reminder that true strength doesn’t always look the way we expect it to, but it is always there, waiting to be found. It’s about the women whose stories are so often left out of the conversation on domestic violence, those whose abuse is not physical but emotional, and the unique struggles they face in seeking help.
Ultimately, the book is a haunting, deeply personal portrait of emotional abuse, resilience, and the journey to reclaim one’s life one small step at a time.
I think our discussion will be insightful and powerful and I hope you will join Bonny and Kym and I on Tuesday, June 10th at 7pm for our Zoom gathering.

I just finished reading Nesting! And I agree with all that you’ve said here (but the read through in one sitting… I had to put it down a couple of times and give myself some space) I am eager to discuss this book though!
The book is about domestic abuse which is a difficult subject but your list of all the other things the book is about is a good one and so true. I’m also looking forward to our discussion!
I finished it over the weekend and I agree with all that you said, except like Kat I had to put it down occasionally to take a break!
There are so many layers to this book and it will be a great one to discuss!
Just got the email that my library hold is in so I will be picking it up probably Monday or Tuesday next week unless I can get there before that.
I wish I could have read it in one setting, but the puppy had other ideas! I really enjoyed it, in spite of the difficult subject matter, and I think it will make for a great discussion.
