We kicked off summer in our town last night with the annual Dale and the…
Everything’s Coming Up . . . Purple?
As I walked around my yard this weekend I was struck by how much purple there is. I don’t wear purple but I sure have a lot of it in my garden.
There’s Dutch Iris.
And clematis.
Lavender, which is one of my favorite plants to have around for it’s scent.
And this new hydrangea which is supposed to be blue but I think I need to lower the pH of the soil a bit more.
What colors are showing up in your garden right now?

Right now? Dirt brown. Ha-ha. The old timers in my area don’t plant until Memorial Day because of possible snow. But the trees and lawns are green. So, this weekend, my friend. Pinks and blues/purples are my regular colors. We shall see.
Likewise, lots of purples here! Iris and so many alliums! My lavender has not started blooming yet… but soon there will be a blaze of red… my poppies are about to start opening!
Gorgeous blooms Carole. We have a deep purple hanging basket and another one with pinks, yellows and whites. Fletch got a lot of plants over the weekend for our kitchen window box, but nothing has been put in yet. Our Iris are really finished blooming (except the deep purple and yellow Siberian ones which have not yet bloomed). Sunday I spent time cutting all the spent stalks of our Iris. We do have some pink ground cover that is blooming (I have no idea what it is).
All the purple is beautiful!
My late May/early June garden is always a big swath of purple. A lot of late spring blooms are purple. (The pinks and yellows come later . . . ) Lovely blooms, Carole!
I only just spotted the first flowers on my hydrangea opening this morning, and my lavender isn’t quite there yet. Interesting that you’re ahead of me on both even though you’re farther north! But all that color is stunning.
Beautiful!! No lilacs?? 😉
