Joining with Kat and friends today for a knitting and reading update.

This is the 2nd Campfire Sock and I’m now past the heel turn and gusset decreases thanks to Town Meeting last night. I have set myself a deadline of 4/20 since that’s the start of our first camping trip and it would be awesome to have new socks for the occasion. I’m pretty sure that’s a slam dunk.

I’m currently reading:

The Story She Left Behind. That cover is gorgeous and the story is entertaining enough. Maybe already a tad predictable. I’m not sure how I heard about this one but it’s good so far. As in, it won’t leave a lasting impression but it will be okay.

Alchemised. I’m listening to this and I’m not sure about it. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s based on fan fic from Harry Pottery and it’s dark and twisted and I’m not entirely sure it’s for me. But I’m curious so I’m giving it some time before I decide whether to go forward or not.

What are you knitting and reading this week?

  1. Exciting that your first camping trip in your new camper is coming up SOON!! Love your campfire sock.

  2. Not knitting since I am wearing a hand brace. Had been trying to learn Portuguese knitting, but that’s on hold. Reading a Bruno mystery from the series and just started The Birdwatcher. I love that sock, and yes you will have it finished by 4/20. You are Carole, the great sock knitter.

  3. That is a great second sock and I bet you’ll be done before the 20th. (Although I hope you haven’t angered the universe by declaring it a slam dunk!) Not every book has to be great literature; sometimes entertainment and predictability is just what I want while living in a world that can be truly awful.

  4. I am confident you can finish the sock in time, because you’re right that you must have those socks to wear on your first camping trip! I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts on Alchemised. I’ve seen it pop up here and there but knew nothing about it.

  5. Ha! ‘Tis the season… Kate just reserved a few camping days in May at a nearby state park! I’ll probably go visit. I can’t wait for you to take your new camper for a spin!!

  6. I imagine you will make the 4/20 deadline for the Campfire Sock. If not then you can finish the sock while sitting at a Campfire. Either would be wonderful. Just don’t do any damage to your knitting hands.

  7. Today I’m knitting ankle socks from pink variegated Opal to go with the new Dansko clogs that should arrive Saturday. They have the patent leather finish, and they look like knitted fabric! DH was in the hospital for a test and his nurse spotted me knitting (baby blanket for expected great granddaughter). She was wearing those clogs, and I KNEW I had to have them. Found them on Amazon for a significantly reduced sale price!
