Acer At Last

I can’t believe I finished my Acer sweater weeks and weeks ago and I am just now showing it to you. Sheesh. I guess it’s a true indicator of how cool the weather has been here lately since it’s mid-June and I’m wearing a wool sweater and I’m not too hot. In fact, I’m comfortable.

Anyway, the temperature actually worked to my advantage and I was able to take these pictures yesterday to finally document this here sweater. The pattern comes from the very talented Kirsten. And the yarn comes from the very durable and very wearable Peace Fleece.

I made the sweater a bit longer than the pattern called for and I’m glad I did as some of them look a little short to me. That’s fine if you’ve got the butt for it but me, I kind of like to cover it up.

I will confess that the shoulder increases confused the crap out of me. I just couldn’t seem to get the hang of them and I’m still not sure I did them completely right but it looks okay so I’m good with that. Honestly, it was such a relief to finish these up and just knit rows and rows of stockinette.

The buttons are from Saftler’s, which seems to be my go-to button shop these days. They haven’t let me down yet and I think these are perfect.

I’m glad the sweater is done and I’m glad I’ve had the chance to wear it without having to wait until this fall. Honestly, though, I’m ready for the warm weather. I’ll happily put this sweater away if summer ever arrives!

  1. Your Acer came out wonderful. Thanks for the close-up of the yarn color/texture. I particularly like the button/yarn combination you chose.

Hey, I’m wearing my Acer as my go-to sweater in the air-conditioning here in Louisiana. As Brenda Dane says, “If you’re cold, put on a sweater. That’s what they’re for.” 🙂

  2. That turned out really nicely! And the neckline doesn’t seem super open like others I’ve seen.

  3. Beautiful! I like the sweater, too. You did a nice job of making a good looking, well fitting sweater! Wear it well. I’d love some warmth, too…and I hear it’s coming our way.

  4. Sweater looks great! The buttons are tres cool as well. I know what you mean about the weather… we’ve had the windows closed and I watched tv with a blanket on me last night!

  5. REALLY nice – I love your gray version and I am 99% sure I bought those same buttons at some point this year. 🙂

If you want warm weather, come South. I opened my front door this morning and stepped out into a sauna. It’ll be this way for the next four months.

  16. You are so pretty! The yoke is especially nice and the buttons are great — I’ve never seen buttons like that. Did Dale take the photos?

  17. Oh Carole – it looks fabulous on you! Sorry its so coolthere, but fun that you get to wear this wonderful sweater. I’ll bet that you wear this one a lot.
and I love that last photo of you – so pretty.

  18. If it weren’t for the fact that your new sweater is so lovely and deserves to be wrapped around you a bit more, I would gladly send you 15 degrees of hot from here. Wait–you really seem to want those warmer temperatures. I will try to send 20 degrees of our heat, just in case five get lost in transit. Rrrrrrrr…is it working?

  19. That is a big “if”. 🙂 But summer is bound to show up sooner or later and probably with a vengence!
I LOVE your acer~ and peace fleece, well, could it get any better? I have been tempted by acer but was very unsure because of the shoulder area. I thought it would make me seem miles wide.
It sure does look great on you!
Enjoy it~! (I wore a wool sweater to work today!)
    xoxo

  20. I have had Acer on my list for a while. What color Peace Fleece did you use? The sweater and buttons are lovely and they look fabulous on you daaahling.

  21. Carole, the sweater came out beautifully, and I love the buttons you picked!

Honestly, one of these days I really need to try out Peace Fleece…
