Things I Learned Last Week

In no particular order, these are the things I learned last week.

multicolored roses

~Sometimes, even though you invite friends over for spinning, you actually don’t even spin.  But it doesn’t matter.  And it’s awesome when they bring food and drinks and roses.

~Going to the movies (to see Harry Potter, of course) at 6:30 means having popcorn and M&Ms for dinner.  This is not necessarily a bad thing.

nips

~Bobbing for nips is way more fun than bobbing for apples.  And apparently the husband and I have mad nip bobbing skills.  Who knew?

~Vintage Van Halen is still really good.  But all that head banging leaves you with a sore neck the next day.

blueberry pie

~It’s possible to get together with high school friends and feel like no time has passed at all.  You can talk and talk for six hours and it feels like six minutes.  And they are really impressed when you serve them homemade blueberry pie.

~A Sunday spent knitting and spinning is a truly wonderful thing.

  1. I doubt anyone will be surprised that you and Dale are expert nip bobbers 😉

Sounds like you had a great week!

  2. How did you like HP6? I can’t wait for Daughter #2 to see it, too, so we CAN TALK ABOUT IT! (No discussion is allowed until then.) Daughter #1 has already seen it three times. Mind you, both Daughters are in their 20’s.

  3. Sounds like a great weekend! I can’t believe nips actually float, that’s such a fun idea.
I’m going to see HP6 tonight and am super excited!!!

  4. Still love your archives bits below your blog!
And I love all your week in review items but
being a re-located New Englander, of course
my fav is the blueberry pie!!! I need to make
one this week. And the Sunday spinning and
knitting sounds lovely. We babysat two of our
9 granchildren for the weekend. The two we
sat for are 15 mos and 3 mos.! Getting two
old for this! And I couldn’t even pick up the
    knitting needles!! 🙂

  5. That blueberry pie looks yummy. It reminds me of being a kid and picking blueberries from our neighbors bushes for my mom to make pie. Happy times.

I’m waiting to see HP6 when the girls come home. Thankfully there are other good movie to see right now.

  6. Okay, in my house, nips = nipples, so I’m gonna need a little elaboration on the nip bobbing. Or maybe I don’t wanna know…

  7. That pie looks delicious. The nips bopping is making me think of fun at Rhinebeck — I’m thinking we need a signature drink. Or maybe just a bunch of clanging beer.

  8. Wow! Can I borrow your friends?
Nips??? I need an explanation. Is that a New England expression? Well it sounds like fun, and your pie is gorgeous – bet it tasted that way too.
Hope this week will be another great learning experience for you!

  9. All fun lesson to learn. Lucky girl. Not all lessons are such fun. Love the color mix on the roses. Happy Monday!

  10. Did you save any of that pie for me? I thought not. Just as well, really: there are no calories in looking.

  11. Bobbing for nips! That’s a great idea!

I went over to JessaLu and it turns out the contest is over (I’m a bit behind) but you won! Congratulations!

  12. Bobbing for nips may be the most inspired party game I’ve heard of in a really long time!! I need to work it into my next function!

  13. Please, pretty please, would you share your blueberry pie filling recipe? I cannot find my #%$!!!&* recipe and I have berries from the farmer’s market. Please???

Love the bobbing concept. You two have such a great marriage.
