Help Us Choose!

A few weeks back Hannah and I went to a local park to do her senior photo shoot.  I was really hoping we could get to the beach to do another set but the deadline for choosing the photo is fast approaching and I think we’ll just be going forward with what we have.

We have four good ones and we both have our favorites.  We’d like input from all of you, too.

#1 Hannah in the park by the wall

This is #1.

#2 Hannah in the park by the well

This is #2.

#3 Hannah's Favorite

This is #3.

#4 Carole's Favorite

And this is #4.

Do you have a favorite? Tell us what you think!

  1. It’s tough to choose, but I like #3. The subject is lovely in all the pix, but the light is uneven in #1 and I don’t like the post in #2. Although (cough) is that an optical illusion or a bit of bra strap peeping out?

  2. I’ve been in this situation twice –
    #3 is for the yearbook.
#1 is the picture you get to enlarge to 11×13 and hang on any wall in your home.
When you have such a lovely subject it is hard to decide. Good Luck! Let us know what you decide.

  3. Number 2 is my favorite, though of course all are lovely:) I have 2 senors this year, 1 high school and 1 college – congratulations to you in this bittersweet time! I like #2 for the yearbook and #1 to enlarge.

  4. #3 is a stunner…would be a great yearbook shot. The little pink bit doesn’t bother me at all. #1 would be my second choice. Lovely shot but maybe too much background for the yearbook?

  5. It’s wonderful when you really can’t go wrong! Those are just stunning senior photos! Lovely! I’d go with #3 for yearbook/smaller size prints (wallets, 5X7s, 8X10s, etc.), but if you’re going for a big wall-sized portrait for your home, I’d pick #1 — with more of the full-body shot. (I did this a couple of years ago for my daughter — and I’m really happy with my final choices. Right now, I’m in the midst of it for my son. If this input-from-the-blog works out for you, maybe I’ll give it a try!) 🙂

  6. I personally like #2 the best because of the contrast between her hair and the background: aren’t yearbook pictures usually in black and white? I agree with Norma, however, that #3 is a more standard yearbook photo. Does Hannah want her picture to be different from most, or to be similar to everyone else’s when she looks at the her yearbook 20 years down the road?

  7. #1 is a lovely daughter in a wonderful setting
    and
#3 is a lovely daughter up close and personal, the way a yearbook portrait should be.
All of them are great but those are my faves.

  8. Lovely photos…if it were me, my choices are: 4 – beautiful clear face shot and then 1…must be difficult to decide – particularly with everyone weighing in with so many different opinions…makes it clear that there are no bad choices here, so it is really important to pick the ones that make you each happiest!

  9. For sure, #3. It’s a beautiful photograph, and most appropriate in our quintessential New England ethics. (Wow, how’s that for some big words?) Plus, it’s just damned nice.

  10. Oh Carole, she is so lovely! I really like both #3 and #4 and I’d choose #4 because she looks into the camera with such self- posession and confidence, which I’m sure she has, and rightly so.
You and Dale have raised a wonderful young woman. Makes you want to cry with joy (and relief) doesn’t it?! But #1and #3 are so nice you should have copies for yourself regardless of what you choose for the *official* picture.

  11. What a beautiful girl! I think they are all good (like 1000x better than any senior pics I took back in the day), but my fav is #1. Totally. It has more going on, but she’s still the focus and she looks so great in it! The next one I like best is #4. Because #4 is more of a close up, this one is probably more suited for the traditional yearbook pic…but really, she can’t go wrong! They are all so lovely!

  12. Photos 3 & 4 for sure! She’s so pretty and these two photos really do a great job of framing her face. The green post next to her face in photo #2 is distracting, and while I loved the casual pose in photo #1, I found the beam of sunlight on her head somewhat distracting as well. Overall, a nicely done photo shoot!

  13. They’re all great but my choice would be #4, followed by #3.
Can’t wait to see which one you do go with!

  14. They are all great, but I like #1because she looks nature and comfortable with herself

  15. Late as usual… I see I’m in the majority as I like #3 the best; #1 is my second choice (maybe because I like the background? I know the pic is supposed to be about the kid. Maybe crop it a bit so you still get the interesting wall but also more of the girl.).

  16. I like #1. Although they are all good.I had the same problem earlier this year. My daughter is a senior this year too. Are u having a hard time with it too?

  17. ok, so I know that I am late, but I like #2, followed by number 4.
They are all stunning, Carole – great job! (And it helps to have a fabulous looking subject!!!)

  18. I know I am late but I vote for 1 or 2. Hannah of course is beautiful, so all of them are wonderful, but those are my choices above. 🙂
