Sunday Supper: Hot Turkey Sandwiches

November 30, 2014 By Carole

We went to a friend’s home for Thanksgiving dinner this year. It was wonderful but the downside of that is that you miss out on the best part of Thanksgiving: the leftovers. So, in the spirit of the holiday, I cooked a turkey yesterday and the kids came over for dinner. And that means that tonight we get to have the traditional day-after-Thanksgiving supper: Hot Turkey Sandwiches.

Mmmmmm mmmm.

I like mine with all white meat, open faced and on white bread, with a lot of gravy. I like to have the leftover mashed potato, stuffing and gravy on the side. I like it so much I might even have two. After all, it’s only once a year.

Tonight’s supper will be served during half-time of the Pats game. Let’s hope the game score don’t give us indigestion!

Yum! You are so funny. Most people cook turkey because they SHOULD. Not because they want to.

I’m wondering what the leaves are sticking out of the turkey. It makes for a nice picture!

Beautiful sage leaves! Are those earth staples pinning the legs down? Great idea instead of trussing with kitchen twine.

Thanksgiving leftovers are the best! My family was tired of them so I made ziti last night, but that just means there is more turkey left for sandwiches for me!

I am so grateful a friend made Thanksgiving dinner and she has all the leftovers. I may make chicken soup today.

Score of the Pats game………I share your concern, as a Packer fan. I expect to have indigestion, however.

Hot turkey sandwiches are the BEST! We expect to have the exact same supper tonight (unless someone gets into the leftovers beforehand) and then everything will be all eaten up at last.

My T’day leftover meal is leftover mashed potatoes with some diced turkey meat and lots of gravy. I have had that for breakfast twice since Thursday. Mmmm.

Thanksgiving dinner is the ultimate comfort food–when it’s served and when ut’s leftover. Go Pats! Go Broncos!

I love hot turkey sandwiches. Well, hot roast beef ones too. I think it’s the bread and the gravy that gets me!
Hope you had a good weekend!

If there’s one thing the pandemic has been good If there’s one thing the pandemic has been good for, it’s my sourdough game. I actually started learning about making sourdough bread a week before the stay at home orders thanks to @sprboston as he shared his starter and recipe and technique with me. Since then I have kept Mama Cass fed and alive and have baked many loaves of bread. This one might be my best one yet. I did the final proof in the fridge for 24 hours and baked it from its cold state. Great spring and ear and crumb, it was delicious with dinner tonight. #sourdough #sourdoughbread #lookatthatcrumb #lookatthatear #homebakedbread #imadeitmyself #homemadeisbest
