Three On Thursday

I’m feeling . . . more like myself these days and that’s such a good thing. In that spirit, today I am sharing three things that are making me happy right now.

  1. Container gardens. The ones on the deck are settling in and growing and they make me smile. I have a few favorites, as I do every year, and I’ll make a point of taking photos of them to share with you next week. Also, the window boxes. I owe you photos of those but if you want to picture them, I planted pink geraniums, yellow and white million bells, and sweet potato vine. (Thanks for the help with those choices, Kym!) Right now when I look out the windows in my living room and bedroom I see those pink geraniums peeking up over the sills and they make me smile.
  2. Dale is making progress. Sometimes it feels like a slog, and that’s just from my perspective, it must feel so much harder for him, but he’s improving every day. He can walk with crutches now, we’ve ventured out in the car a couple of times (once for ice cream and once to order new glasses for him since his were smashed in the accident), he’s doing great with the PT exercises, and he’s able to take the boot off for sleeping if he chooses. We see the orthopedic surgeon tomorrow to have the stitches taken out (there are 25 in his leg the poor guy!) and hopefully get a good progress report.
  3. The month of June always makes me happy and this song by The Decemberists is one I listen to every day in June because it just perfectly captures the emotions I have about this month. I hope you will listen and enjoy it, too.

And that’s what I’ve got for you this Thursday. If you wrote a post please share it with everyone in the link party below.

Happy Thursday!

  1. I’m glad to hear that things are improving, especially on Dale’s recovery. I’m sure he’s just as anxious, if not more so, to be back to 100%.

I have said it so many times these past couple of months, but I am really thankful that if we had to be stuck at home this long, it’s at least happened during the spring/summer, when we have flowers blooming and sunshine. If we had to go through this during the winter, I would probably just crawl into bed and stay there until it was all over.

  2. This post makes me smile! πŸ™‚

Yay for flowers, June, and Healing Dale!!

(I have been listening to lots of The Decemberists these days, and yet how did I miss June Hymn! Thank you!) XO

  3. Glad to hear Dale is upright on crutches. And getting new glasses! It’s hard – but eventually he will feel normal again, and so will you.

  4. All three of these things are wonderful – flowers, Dale, and Decemberists! I may soon be able to get flowers for some planting of my own and that makes me happy.

  5. What great celebrations. I love picturing those geraniums peeking up…window boxes and geraniums are two of my favorite things πŸ™‚

  6. Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. June is going to bring you even more wonderful things Carole…I can feel it! πŸ™‚

  7. I have some large containers that I am going to use for veggies because we have some burrowing creatures who are all the roots last year. Happy June

  8. Glad hear Dale and you are making progress. Container gardens and window boxes are just so much fun to put together. I look forward to pictures! Now you have me humming the June hymn!

  9. Wonderful news! I have mostly tomatoes & herbs planted in my containers, and they make me happy, too! My co-worker who was hit head-on in early November (possibly, finally, returning to work in a couple of weeks) was experiencing headaches and then they realized/remembered that his glasses had been broken in the accident and he was wearing a prescription that was a few years old! I’m hoping Dale has an EXCELLENT report!!

  10. So good to read that Dale is recuperating right along. I’m sure that his progress takes a load off your mind. Ice cream in a cone sounds great! Enjoy!

  11. That is such good news about Dale. I hope he feels much better after he gets all those stitches out! Happy June, Carole.

  12. I’m so glad Dale is making progress (and what you described sounds like VERY GOOD progress!) and your containers sound lovely. Listening to June Hymn now – it’s new to me (no surprise πŸ˜‰ – thank you!

  13. That is one of my favorite Decemberist songs (and albums). It’s so good to hear that Dale is improving daily. Healing feels like forever while you’re in the thick of it, but at some point it will feel like the time went by so quickly. It’s also good to hear you’re feeling more like you can concentrate on you rather than your fear. xo

  14. That’s the perfect June theme song! So glad to hear Dale is recovering well. I’m sure he enjoys sleeping without the boot. I pity him for the crutches though. Makes my armpits ache just thinking about them. πŸ™‚
