Hello, friends! I'm joining with Kat today to talk about my knitting and reading. My…
Socktoberfest Socks
I’m a constant sock knitter, as you all know. And yet, I only managed to finish one pair of socks for Socktoberfest.
Pattern: Feather and Fan from Socks Socks Socks
Yarn: A Piece of Vermont Sock Yarn
Dates: 9/21/2006 – 10/26/2006
This is the 4th time I have knit this particular sock pattern and I never get tired of it. I use Magic Loop with Size 1 Addis and only modify the pattern slightly – I don’t do that garter ridge when I transition from the leg to the ankle. Oh, and I make the leg a bit longer than the pattern indicates.
I wore these yesterday and they are wonderful. The blues in the yarn go perfectly with jeans, which is exactly what I wanted. I do feel a bit like a slacker for returning to the same pattern so frequently, but honestly, I love it so much that I can’t help myself. And I have enough rules in my life, I’m certainly not going to impose one on myself about what sock patterns I can and cannot knit!
That said, my current socks are not Feather and Fan. Just saying.

They look so comfy. Need to step out of the box after my second pair and try these. Perfect color for jeans- right up my alley.
Beautiful! And I bet they *are* perfect with jeans.
They’re beautiful! You might have just talked me back into that pattern…..
The color looks great and is different than you’ve knit lately. I only got one pair of socks done this month, too. My Toasty Toes which I mailed without a decent picture!
They’re wonderful, and that pattern makes a great-fitting sock. Why change perfection?
they are so pretty.
i cast on for my *first* soctoberfest socks last night. lolly said it was ok 😉
Those socks are beautiful. Love the color.
I love that pattern too, I’ve knit it an embarrassing number of times. That pattern may be addictive.
Beautiful socks! The yarn is so pretty. I think if you like the pattern and the socks fit you keep making them!
They’re gorgeous — love the colour.
They look great! Love the color. 🙂
They turned out so well! The pattern is a great one – it really sets off the yarn. Glad to see another beautiful pair. Cute photos with the pumpkin too!
I’ve knitted those same socks 3 times! I only have a few patterns that I’ll do twice, and those are one of them. Love ’em!
Sometimes I wish I could return to my favorite sock pattern, and just flow with it again and again, but as a newish sock knitter, I am still in search of “the one.” No shame in knitting the same socks again. I plan to, as soon as I find the perfect sock.
Pretty socks! They look like perfect jeans socks.
I agree there shouldn’t be any rules about what socks we knit. I like plain vanilla ss socks and that is what I mostly knit.
That’s one of my favorite sock patterns. It’s just such a winner every time, especially in a gorgeous variagated yarn like yours.
I have been meaning to use that pattern for so long now. Maybe if I ever finish my current Socktoberfest socks, I will cast on for those!
Great! I’m stealing the picture, of course. 🙂
fantastic
I don’t see how it could be “slacking” to keep knitting socks. hehe How about “content” with a great pattern that you have personalized to be just right for yourself? 🙂
The yarn is a great colorway!
That yarn was perfect for the feather and fan pattern. Those are some good-lookin’ socks!
Those do look like the perfect jeans socks! There is nothing wrong with having a favorite sock pattern either. Socks are about ease and portability for most which makes a favorite pattern a good thing 🙂
They look fantastic, Carole! I can so see them with jeans — perfect.
I have made tons of socks with either just plain old stockinette or 2X2 rib. Sometimes yarn just calls for simple. I think I do need to try feather and fan for my next pair. Your socks are really nice; very nice jeans colorway.
Lovely blues! I wondered about that garter ridge. My first pair will have it, none of the rest will. It is a pattern that does such lovely things for variegated yarn…prevents pooling and puddling, flashing and dashing.
They look awesome! :o)
You got me beat. Three potentials, none finished.
Yours are purty! Love Jesse’s yarn…
Very cute. I say you gotta go with what works for you. No rules here!
Gotta love a pair of socks that go well with jeans! They’re really nice, so why not knit what you like?
So pretty! I must admit that, contemplating what socks to knit next (I finally finished the first Trekking sock and need another ball for the second one), I’ve been considering going back to f&f, even though I never do the same pattern twice. Well, almost never. If I changed the number of sts would it count as the same pattern?
If it ain’t broke, why fix it? Those are lovely socks and love how they turned out.
Rules schmules! If you like knitting them AND you like wearing them then knit Feather and Fan to your heart’s content!
BTW, they look great in blue :o)
Very nice! It looking my Octoberfest socks are quickly becoming Novemberfest socks…hehe
Hey, you have to knit what you like, right!
I am so glad to not be the only one who got one pair of socks finished for Socktoberfest! Yours are great too.
Those look really nice. Love the blues! Heh, I finished a pair of socks yesterday but I didn’t start them.. this October.
Maybe only one pair, but a very lovely pair. 🙂
Fabulous socks! I love the pictures with the pumpkins…that’s really clever.
Pretty pretty colorway Carole! And a stunning pair of socks! As long as you’re not bored and you like the socks, you’re no slacker! Besides it’s all only about the loops and how we configure them, Right? So it’s all knitting!
Funny, I only managed on pair myself this Socktober too!
Beautiful socks and what a great picture!
Very pretty socks! (And they go well with the pumpkin too.)
Beautiful socks!
I sure hope the knitting police does not catch wind of THIS!
🙂
xoxo
love them!
Well, honestly, what didja expect? Gallavanting all over New England (and the greater NY area), and spinning and generally enjoying yourself? I think you did great getting an entire pair finished!
I love the socks! I’ve been thinking of trying that pattern, and your gorgeous blue socks have convinced me. I’ve knit 2.5 socks during October, but I don’t have a pair, and two of the three pairs I’m working on aren’t for me. It’s very sad.
Beautiful socks! I say, knit whatever pattern you enjoy. 🙂
Oh, don’t your lil’ tooties look cute in those! That is one of my favorite patterns for lots of things, and works well with your blue multi yarn, so why not?
I love the socks! I’m sort of a pattern-loyal person, too. If I enjoy knitting, why change it?
Beautiful socks…they will look great with jeans.
They’re beautiful. Hey, if you like the pattern and it works for you…go for it. You’ve found a good thing, why not stick with it?
