Genmaicha

I realized the other day that I never gave the Genmaicha mitts their proper blog post.  Sure, I showed you the finished mitts at Rhinebeck, but I think they deserve their very own glorious post.

And here they are, modeled by the lovely Hannah.

The yarn is Piece of Vermont Superwash Wool/Nylon sock yarn.  I think the color is fabulous – so rich and a beautiful shade of deep blue.

The pattern was very fun and quick and I know I’ll be wearing these a lot this season.  Once I get them away from Hannah.

Don’t they go great with my new mug from Starbucks?  Damn, now I’m going to have to get that away from her, too.

  1. I’m going to have to show this pic to our local starbucks manager! The mitts turned out wonderful. I need to raid my sock yarn stash…

  2. Hey – you stole Margene’s mug! Good lug getting your stuff back. I actually ca’t wait for “someone” to take an interest in my handknit things….

  3. Great mitts! I saw that mug somewhere else. I gotta hit a Starbucks. They probably have so many knitting groups meet in their cafes across America they finally realized they could make a mint off of a knitterly coffee cup. lol.

  4. Love the mitts & the mug, and you’re fortunate to have a model so readily available! Both of our girls now live on the other side of the state. I emailed a link to Margene’s photo of the mug to the girls as a Christmas hint – one emailed me that it’s also available in robins egg blue 🙂

  5. ok, enough is enough. hannah just as to start knitting. i mean seriously. that way she can make her own instead of stealing yours. sheesh.

  6. Lovely mitts, lovely mug! There’s something ‘specially delightful about mitts named for green tea posing with a coffee mug.

  7. Those mitts look great. I have a plan to make a little hand-wear for me this year too but I’m going to make some fotr lindsey forst so she’s not tempted to swipe mine.

  8. Ditto (great handwarmers), ditto (nice mug), and ditto (putting daughters on notice that I want that mug for Christmukkah.)

  9. I love the mitts. The color is just gorgeous. I just hit a local Starbucks yesterday and got the very last one of those mugs that they had! It’s going into my Christmas stocking…I have taken to getting a few stocking stuffers for myself, as the one year my family forgot and my husband and sons may even have felt worse than I did when they realized thatI had the only completely empty stocking, since I take care of the others. So for the last two years I have the absolutely best stocking as nobody ever wants that to happen again ;D !

  10. Knitting mugs? Great. I wish there where something like that here in germany.
    And the mitts are perfect.

    Greetings from Germany

  11. Now that mug would be filled with glorious hot chocolate! That’s what I’ve been drinking a lot of lately!

Love the mitts…they do look cute on Hannah – but, they’ll look great on you!

  12. LOVE them! I also chose a superwash for that fun pattern. Mind if I copycat? Gotta have me a mug like yours!

  13. All my knitting seems to go to my daughter…since I really got into it I think I’ve made one scarf for myself…and two pairs of socks for my husband and everything is for Hayley…but she loves it all so.

  14. Lovely mitts, and great mug too! A nice size for a big of something warm. Maybe it’s getting to that time when you’ll have to make/buy 2 of everything? One for you and one for Hannah 🙂

  15. I’ve been looking at a wool coat from Land’s End, and this mitt is in the spirit of it’s pea coat ancestry. Very nicely done – you’ve inspired me!

  16. love those mitts – and I have been thinking about making them for my daughter boyfriend 😉
heh heh – good luck getting them back from Hannah!

  17. I had to run out yesterday to get that mug too. I sent one to a swap partner and couldn’t stop thinking about it. HA!

Those mitts look super warm and smooshy. And I love the color.

  18. Exceptionally lovely mitts, I really like the detail. It’s really kinda nice that you have to try to get your knitting back from Hannah, your daughter appreciates what you create. Homemade things have a wonderful feeling of warmth, comforting the person wearing them. I am frequently giving my knitted things away and my Niece in college is especially appreciative as I am sure the recepients of your knitting are.

  19. I am no stranger to my daughter confiscating my projects. It’s a compliment, right? And, as my daughter says, “You can just whip up more.”

    Whip up, lady.
