Twas 3 Days After Christmas

christmas tree 09

My Christmas festivities went pretty much as I predicted they would. On Christmas Eve we had a house full of family and friends and it was wonderful. I never saw 6 pounds of Swedish meatballs and 3 dozen deviled eggs disappear so fast in all my life! If only they had eaten all the cookies, too!

Christmas Day was relaxing and lazy, a far different experience from when we had small kids at home. These days we don’t even start opening until 11 or later and that’s fine with me. We all played with the Wii a bit and then headed for Dale’s brother’s house for a delicious Christmas dinner and more Wii playing. Seeing my 83 year old father-in-law flying an airplane in the Wii Resorts game was a terrific addition to the day!

I really did stay in my pajamas all day on Saturday. We had talked about going to the movies but I was just feeling too relaxed and too lazy so it was TV and Wii and leftovers. Ahhh.

And then on Sunday (don’t you love when Christmas fall on a Friday) we hung around, played some more with the Wii and then went to see the movie The Blind Side. It was fantastic! Excellent social commentary, great acting from Sandra Bullock and really shouldn’t be missed. It was a great way end to our Christmas weekend.

Now it’s Monday and that means back to work but at least it’s another short week. Yippee!

  1. YES! Yippee for another short week! You’re Christmas weekend sounds like perfection. The right decorations, the right food and the right people.

  2. Six pounds of Swedish meatballs and 3 dozen deviled eggs?! Wow, that’s a lot of cooking! I’m glad you had a wonderful Christmas!

  3. Sounds like fun! I took today off, so I can get some stamps and mail out those holiday cards. Kiddo has school vacation, so we’re switching off staying home… such a hardship (NOT!).

  4. Having been one who partook of the swedish meatballs and deviled eggs, I can attest to the reason they went so quickly … yummmm-o! I think we should make Christmas fall on a Friday every year, LOL. Glad you had a wonderful Christmas, I can’t think of anyone who deserves it more. And thank you again for my beautiful blue mitts … I am still tickled that you made me such a gorgeous gift!!

  5. We also found the weekend to be beyond relaxing. I love when you can just hang and there is no guilt after. And getting eight hours of sleep for days in a row?! Enjoy this short week, Carole. I hope you have similar fun planned for the New Year!

  6. As much as I enjoyed the frantic Christmas mornings when my kids were young, I think I am actually enjoying the calm later Christmas’s of today now that they are older. 😉

Sounds like your weekend was wonderful. 🙂

  7. It’s like New Year’s exists to eeeeaaaase you back into full time working after Christmas.

I think I will investigate the possibility of deviled eggs with our leftovers lunch.

  8. Your Christmas sounds wonderful, Carole! Sheesh, the days when I’d stay up being “Santa” ’til 2-3:00 a.m. and be up at 6:00 (after sending the kids back to bed at least once already)!

We saw Sherlock Holmes on Christmas Day — very enjoyable! I’d love to see The Blind Side — and Nine!

  9. Christmas on a Friday IS awesome. That sounds pretty similar to my weekend, except we saw Sherlock Holmes instead. And there’s no Wii here. 🙂

  10. Your recap was fun to read Carole. I love the pj day and was jealous. I had the actual holidays off, but worked the weekend. I think I need a pj day! Hooray

  11. Yay!

I’m so glad the long holiday weekend was a good one for you. Want some cinnamon muffins? They are starting to take over my kitchen. 😕

  12. We just went to see The Blind Side today. What a fantastic movie and the fact that it is true makes it even more so!! Sandra Bullock played such a great character and I agree that the movie is not to be missed.
