It’s New Year’s Eve

december sky

Here is a beautiful December sunset as viewed from my deck. It’s appropriate for this, the last day of 2009, I think.  Dale and I are staying in this evening. We’ll probably be watching episodes of True Blood or playing cards. We’ll definitely be  eating delicious things like stuffed mushrooms and king crab legs. Hopefully we’ll be awake to see the ball drop but I imagine we’ll be tucking each other in by 12:02. We just aren’t as young and exciting as we used to be!

We hope you all have a safe and festive evening, whatever you decide to do.

Happy New Year and see you in 2010!

  1. Sounds like my kind of New Year’s Eve – we usually have some nice appetizers, a little champagne, a fire in the fireplace, a movie with the kids and everyone is asleep by 9:30-10:00. Happy New Year!

  2. Happy New Year, Carole and Dale!

I’m sure I’ll be sound asleep by the time the ball drops; I’m not as young and exciting as I used to be either 🙂

  3. We will be staying in with a fire in the fireplace, hubby watching football and i’ll be spinning! The dog will be barking at the fireworks. I’m sure we will be tucking each other in by 10:00 unless a football game is still playing 🙂

  4. I haven’t seen midnight in many a year. We can watch the ball drop at 10:00. 10:00 is the new midnight. 😉
    HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

  5. When I was young, I still wasn’t exciting 😉 Have a great evening and Happy New Year, Carole!

  6. Happy New Year! We’re going to a party at a friend’s house but I think your plan sounds pretty good. Anyway, New Years for me is waking up 1/1 and watching the Rose Parade in my pj’s.

  7. Your evening sounds exactly like ours – cards, cocktails, testing out the new speakers SB got for xmas, and MAYBE we’ll be awake at midnight! Happy New Year’s!

  8. Gorgeous sunset. I think you and Dale are plenty young & exciting! We’re staying in as well, having friends over 🙂 Meatballs are already in the crockpot, kielbasa is ready to slice, and the shrimp are defrosting in the refrigerator. Champagne has been chilled for quite a while, LOL. Hope you have a wonderful evening 🙂 See ya in 2010!

  9. Glad you will be safe at home enjoying the change from this year to the next.

Sure, you’re playing down the reasons for staying in, but we all know you are finishing that beautiful cardi!

  10. Sounds perfect – we are staying in also with Chinese Food. Haven’t been out in years. Happy New Year!!!

  11. Don’t feel bad, Carole–this one night a year, we consider ourselves East Coasters instead of Midwesterners, toast the dropping of the ball in NYC, and are snoring away by 12:02. Your time. 🙂

    Happy New Year!

  12. This New Year’s Eve, like most of them in my life, I think I’ll imitate Mason and fall asleep early (but maybe not on the dining room table…). Happy 2010 to you, Carole! (And Dale, Hannah and Mason 🙂

  13. What a gorgeous sunset! We made it to midnight but were home in bed very shortly thereafter 🙂 Happy New Year!
